mac_shinobi Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Hmmm, if Mattx's little motorbiking video causes such vitriol I guess posting a little head-cam movie I took whilst driving in the West Bank might cause some people's heads to explode........ In a few years time I will be getting a certain 4 wheeled bike aka quad bike and a head cam would be great - although I won't be able to afford an expensive one. Will obviously need a helmet and protective gear etc, think I will stick to posting videos on youtube I can then safely ignore the comments section or just disable it
theeldergeek Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 I think that is probably enough now Mods/Admins - Is this what the reputation system is for by the way? "Stop dragging it on. You are just trolling now" "Always been and always will be pathetic." (both comments found on my reputation status, amongst more that were positive and in my favour I have to say) I'll "drag" it on for as long as I have something to say, you don't have to read it; as for being 'pathetic', I have no issue with someone considering me so, but in each case, don't use back-door tactics to get your point(s) across.
localzuk Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 I think that's what the rep system is for, yes (well, the first comment, but not the second - personal attacks are never good.) Also, a mod has said to drop it now, so personally I'd think enough is enough. (I didn't do any repping etc... in this thread, as I seem to get into so many arguments I decided to ignore this one )
CAM Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Negative rep is issued anonymously to prevent a rep war (returning negative rep "just because") which is itself an abuse of the rep system. Admins can see who has issued negative rep so if you feel rep has been issued unfairly, or is being used as a means of abuse, you can get in touch with them through PM or the private forum.

Apparently that is also what the system is for; if you can't find fault with someones argument find a word you don't like. (Opps I said arse again - another bad rep please ) Edited June 5, 2011 by Guest
theeldergeek Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 (edited) I think that's what the rep system is for, yes I'm not suggesting the rep given was unfair (each is entitled to his/her own opinion), but if someone has something to say to me, I'd prefer it was said out in the open rather than in some pusillanimous manner. The rep system is widely abused on this forum and has been a bone of contention on more than one occasion. Edited June 5, 2011 by theeldergeek
CESIL Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 I might be a bit thick (or maybe just too old) but I read the link on the rep star as meaning "Add to this user's reputation", is there some way to subtract from their reputation? ...and I am also interested to know how one can see what negative (or positive) rep is given to me? I would also like to clarify that at no time were my posts meant to be "anti-biker"...rather a comment on anti-social/illegal road manoeuvres on a video that was posted on a public forum...and to be very clear I would in no way endorse aggressive and or dangerous actions taken to stop anybody carrying out any manoeuvre that I disagree with...

When you click the star you are given the option of positive or negative rep and the opportunity to leave a comment. If you click "Settings" under your name at the top right, it will show you latest rep received and where/how. Neg rep is anonymous, not sure about positive,

Neg rep is anonymous, not sure about positive, Positive rep given by the rep button is also anonymous, you can only see who has added to your rep if they thank you publicly via the "Thanks" button
laserblazer Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 (edited) I'll "drag" it on for as long as I have something to say, you don't have to read it Even after a MOD has asked us not to? That's dissent and worthy of a -rep Edit. I just got a -rep for oppression of freedom of speech. I wonder who that might be from Edited June 6, 2011 by laserblazer 2
witch Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Freedom of speech - Yay! Freedom of a private forum - Not so much.
TechMonkey Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 OT but where do you even find your rep comments? I feel I may be missing out on some valuable feedback! 1
localzuk Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Click on settings. They're at the bottom, if a comment has been made. 1
TechMonkey Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Ah ha, many thanks. I obviously need to be more radical one way or the other. I shall mend my ways. 1
theeldergeek Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Even after a MOD has asked us not to? That's dissent and worthy of a -rep Edit. I just got a -rep for oppression of freedom of speech. I wonder who that might be from The negative rep was not from me. I have something to say, I do it via a direct reply or to your face.
laserblazer Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 The negative rep was not from me. I have something to say, I do it via a direct reply or to your face. My apologies.
theeldergeek Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 My apologies. No apology is required as you didn't actually accuse me, I was just ensuring you knew it wasn't me. Not that it matters, I have little time for the rep system anyway.
laserblazer Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 But the thought is as bad as the deed. I bet it was mattx, using his smartphone, whilst overtaking the wrongside of keep left sign on a zebra crossing full of blind nuns. 1
CESIL Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 The problem with nuns using a zebra crossing is they keep disappearing and reappearing...damn camouflage...
laserblazer Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 The problem with nuns using a zebra crossing is they keep disappearing and reappearing...damn camouflage... Not a lot of people know that there's half a dozen nuns on the Abbey Road album cover.
Linux_Nut Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Not a lot of people know that there's half a dozen nuns on the Abbey Road album cover. The question arises is there even a zebra crossing then?
Rawns Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Not a lot of people know that there's half a dozen nuns on the Abbey Road album cover. I always assumed there was a zebra on the crossing. http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTAqQY5ijeSUKXkSHkOV8zScBJnqI1JHllbNeFokE5k_1-ytvDzcw "Ninja Zebra hidden in plain sight!"
RageRiot Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 I'd knock bikers off in my car if they acted like this on the road if it wasn't Illegal as a demonstration your taking the Pi**. I don't think it's acceptable to weave around the traffic in the ways seen in the Video regardless of how competent you are. you put other people in danger just as much as car drivers. nice camera tho 2
Andrew_C Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Just sit there in your cage wasting your life away then.
localzuk Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Just sit there in your cage wasting your life away then. So... the choice is 'weave through traffic, putting others in danger' or 'sit in a car and waste your life'... Hmm. Where do you place 'walk' or 'get the bus' fit in?
