Do all bikers honestly think that is why a lot car drivers don't particularly like bikers? Maybe you should watch your video again, that's why people don't like bikers.

 

The reason is simple - they see Bikers getting to their destination quicker, they see bikers filtering traffic, they see bikers being allowed to ride in some bus and cycle lanes. I think it's called Jealousy ?

There is definitely no jealousy from me...in the cold and wet I stay warm and dry...that's mostly why I gave up bikes (both motorized and man powered).

 

Having said that the cost of fuel has me considering a return two wheels...for the cost savings though and no other reason...

so if i bought a new camcorder and filmed myself injecting heroin into young kids, you'd be fine watching it because although it shows something illegal and unsafe, you would be concentrating on the frames per second and compression of the video?

With bike riding like that you wonder why car drivers get annoyed with bikers!

 

Some of that was quite frankly shocking, overtaking on bends, roundabouts, getting REALLY close to some cars, underatking.........the list goes on.

I am reasonably tolerant of motor bikes being a cyclist, but boy oh boy.

 

Me thinks you need to go and get some proper lessons again.

Don't worry, I actually quite enjoyed the video. People complain about your riding but nobody has yet mentioned that you had various bits of bad driving to manouvre on route, like when that little spam tin pulled out straight into the right hand lane.

.....everyday we have to put up with drivers like that - if there is one skill you get from being a biker it's being able to read the road ahead - sometimes much more than your usual run of the mill driver too.

It's happened to me numerous times...the difference is I didn't compound their mistake by immediately undertaking them...a driver like that is quite likely to panic and veer back to the correct lane...

As I said being able to read the road ahead I had a feeling the car was going to pull out in front of me so already knew in the back of me head if it did then at the speed I was doing [ 40 ] it would be easier to undertake [ knowing already there was nothing behind me ] - than slam my brakes on. The driver of the car didn't really give a toss about me as they had NOT SEEN ME TO START WITH and would only start to panic if they happened to feel the bike strike the back of their car. As they were not paying attention to start with [ pulling out without looking correctly first ] then I doubt they would even notice a bike raming into the back of them.

Camera: Looks nice. I got bought a cheap one for a birthday and it is nice but seems to have problems with vibrations or moisture. Plus not the easiest to get going with gloves on. I do prefer the head mounted POV but looked good res.

 

The Riding: Not watched it all but there are some things in the bit I have seen I would do, there are some things I wouldn't. There are also some things I would have done that mattx didn't so it all comes out in the wash. No one died, no one got injured and I bet mattx had more fun then sitting in a car

 

Jealousy: You bet a lot of car drivers feel jealousy to bikes filtering. I have had them slide over to try and block my path, push me into oncoming traffic, scream blue murder at me, flash, honk, pretend to open their doors or even try and push me through their window! Some actions i can put down to stupidity or even lack of awareness (not excusable in a car though) but others you can only put down to pure malice. But while they are fuming I am normally on my way smiles all the way.

Especially when you have a nano second to make what you think is the correct decision. In that nano second the equation of your bike, [ acceleration / braking ] your style, road surface, whats around you, if you know the road, what type of person is maybe driving the car etc etc all has to be calculated. At that point it was safer for me [ and the idiot who pulled out ] for me to undertake.
