[sOLVED]got a third party to have a look for me and managed to recover the data.[sOLVED]

Hi, I'ved been asked to recover student reports that had been saved on a USB stick and has been corupted some how, the teacher think their home laptop/PC might have had a virus or corupted it some how. anyway I tried recuva which found pdf's but there is no form data which is how staff filled in the reports. is the form data stored seperatly from the main pdf file structure ? anyone had any sucess recovering pdf's with form data? Thansk

eset nod 32 did the job for us. after a few weeks is was mostly gone but after a couple of months It went completely.

it sounds like a good idea but I dont think it will be done correctly or if at all possible for it to be a worthwhile service.

sorry to drag up an old thread but I've just had to copy a staff members 'my music' folder to the new server but I've just tried to play a couple of tracks from the itunes folder in there and they are blank. to my understanding this is due to DRM, If the staff memeber just loads up itunes and logs in should they be able to play them again? I fear an earfull after descovering this.

Hi. our nursey computer has given nursery staff nothing but bad luck with their new win 7 desktop(64bit) the problem right now is the photo printing wizard just doesnt work, their photo were basiclly being sliced and spread across a page but now blank pages come out of the printer. I had a look my self and it's quite apparnt when you lauch the printing wizard the preview windows is just blank just like the pages that come out. recent changes is a new domain controller(on a new domain) as I'm in the process of decomisioning the old servers, they currently serve no purpose atm except a few folders havnt been copied over. so I've joined this workstation to the new domain and clean profiles using delprof2 even since the problem appeard. can anyone shed some light on this thanks RageRiot

servers have to have static ip's although no doubt they will work with a dhcp address but with certain configureation and headaches when it does not work. all server dependant clients work on the principal that they know where their server is.

In our IT suite all the computers sound mixer gets messed up because the kids keep playing with the sliders, I have been called in to see why they are having problems hearing any sound or just hearing it in one ear and I usually find that the various sliders in the mixer (wave,CD, master, etc) have been moved and the balances adjusted all the way left/right so What I want to be able to do it disable the ability to bring up the full mixer but sill allow the master volume slider to appear via the usual single click on the speaker icon on the taskbar notification area. I had a look in group policy but I can only find User Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Start menu and Taskbar >> remove volume control icon Thanks RageRiot

after a secoond look at the picture i realise what you mean but it still makes sense. Maybe GPs have atributes that are aet when any setting is altered. So changing it from enable or disable and then to not configured will force it to still ahow in the settings tab

it is helpful. the client will assume default settings or follow its local GP settings .

most BIOS's will use a card that you have inserted to at least display the boot/post and bios it's self. do you get this far or no video at all from this card? in the BIOS it's uually under init display, default adapter, primary display interface etc. usually found under advanced chipset settings.

hmm. I'm a little suprised that people use the settings tabs as an indication if it's on or off. I see it completly different, from my perspective it should show settings regardless of if the link is enabled or disable or the computer or user settings are enabled or disabled. this as far as i know is the expected behavior since you can visually see if a GPO link is enabled and/or if a scope is or isnt on the details tab.

anything past SATA III on HDDs is a marketing joke. while you can get burst in the ranges of SATA II it's just a marketing ploy to make you think your getting supadupa speeds. hard drives cant physically provide a constant data stream anywhere close to SATA III's theroretical limits. SSDs on the other hand can or will at least come close, I've never used a SSD nor extensivly reasearched them.

we have a evolis tattoo2, I thinks it's crap but I've never used a card printer before this. The contrast of colors are a bit off and despite cleaning I always seem to get a hair or bit of grit stuck under the last protecting layer. sure I'd blast it with air if I had a compressor because air in a can didnt cut it. it helped but I think it just needs a better clean which they dont pay me for. the software, Emedia card designer is again CRap. like somthing made for windows 98. and if I wanted to install it to another machine I have to perform migration which involes faffing around with keys and wizards, put a foot wrong here and apaprently the licence is lost forever. Any company/developer that has a software licence policy which cuts them out of the equation is a joke beyond beleif in my opinion. I recently redesigned our staff ID cards because who ever did them last did a naff job at it. partly due to the fact that e media card deigner doesnt accept images with transparency but he could have been creative like I have. I incorperated my design into a single image which shows the school logo and LA logo(without no white background) clearly, it's been a welcomed resigned

Any one have or had any problems trying to print to a specific tray on this printer? I'll start off by saying that these printer are very good and fast, we just received 2 last week because we have signed up to a service and consumables contract. Th problems I'm having is printing to the correct tray at the right time. I have documents(acctually a M$ publisher file) that I print on yellow card every thursday so I put the card in tray 1, since it's more than 1 page I would either right click and select print or select them all and use right click print. now before we got these printers we have 8560's which would print to tray 1 if I had go to the printer settings and set tray 1 otherwise it default to tray 2 unless specified during the print preferences when you select print in a application. so as it stands right now my printer settings are for tray 1 but if right click print a .pub it will still come out of tray 2. The driver defaults on the print server is set to automatically select and the printers control panel it's self is set to static for each tray. I've checked the manual and I cant see anything obvious and I've tried it from a different workstations but maybe I have something set wrong somewhere.

maybe a DNS issuse? try using the ip address when you get that message eg //192.168.x.x/sharename

having an individual setting in a gpo set to not configured is the same as not having the GPO or having the GPO disabled. it means it will ignore the GPO and set that setting based upon the local Group policy on the target client.

I'm still learning all things TCP/IP and AD so I'm not certain if this is true but I think the problem is beause you are using a different network ID. I was of the understanding that the network ID has to bethe same(hence the device/computers being on the same network) for AD to work and all of it's GPO's maybe some soft of routing has to be configured. edit: appologies I just realised you had a gpo successfully apply on admin logon, I'd check gpresult to see if the GPO is appying for user. also it's handy to use delprof since some user accounts I've found go a bit iffy and stop picking up gpo's

you have to turn logon auditing on to capture logon events from users which you can do per ou even. this wil only help going forward though should it ever happend again. HOW TO: Audit Active Directory Objects in Windows Server 2003

that is what is supose to happen. if I understood you correctly the settings tab shows you the configured settings regardless of if the gpo is eneable or not. it allows to to get an overview of what should be applying so you dont have to trail through the editor.
