witch Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Um...I play that weird instrument that is made of brass but is not part of a brass section - a French Horn. Of course you don't get French Horns in a brass band (only those little euphonium things that you call horns) so I don't play in a brass band, just an orchestra..(Bournemouth University)
featured_spectre Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 I used to play classical guitar and Spanish guitar in my young years and was a part of the youth orchestra, however I stopped when I was about 16 and haven't played much since, intact in the last 10 years I have probably played about 20 times or so, and even then its just to go over chords and scales.

I think it's just something different. Do you find it more difficult or easier? As a youngster I started on cornet, but got told my mouth was too big (to get the higher notes), so moved on to horn

He also plays principle cornet with our area youth band and trumpet with a couple of jazz ensembles at college...

As a youngster I started on cornet, but got told my mouth was too big (to get the higher notes), so moved on to horn I wouldn't say its easier or harder, it takes more work because you have to change your playing technique completley and getting the pitch in your head is hard at first, plus its one of the parts where its obvious if its wrong being so high up, because of the pitch everyone can always here it
