Reg! I'm in a school with 32 here and we occasionally get issues with videos being shown while mirrored, but plugging ethernet in resolves that problem. You could run ethernet to the ones where you have spare sockets to reduce the load on the Wifi?

First post since I moved to New Zealand, so Hello from the future! Ok, 13 hours into the future... Anyway, I've got a problem. I need to reset two local administrator passwords, one on an HP ML310e Gen8 V2 server (Hyperv Host) and then, one on a Virtual DC hosted by that server. Literally no idea what the passwords are... Usually, I'd use Hirens or the Installation DVD to reset the password, but neither will recognise the RAID driver (it's a B120i), so I can't see the System drive to reset the password! Does anyone have any ideas how I might circumvent this? I've tried installing the drivers (you have to use Server2008r2 drivers...it's the most awkward RAID card ever) from within the Advanced Options in "Repair my computer" from the Server2012r2 disk with no joy and I can't see any suitable Linux drivers for Hirens...what build of Linux does that even use? I can't face the chance we might have to start again, it would break my little heart...Please help! Ben

We've been asked to add an extra school-wide calendar to our Office365 specifically for meetings. The ladies in the Main Office don't always get informed that there's meetings taking place with parents or carers etc and more often than not, the parents/carers have no idea who they're meeting with, so the Office ladies have to run about trying to work out who's doing what! Anyways, it's a bit messy giving everyone access to a calendar, it can quickly get out of hand. The current calendar is only written to by one member of the admin team, so that's well under control. Any suggestions as to a solution? Ideally, we'd have a monitor stuck on the wall next to the office window which would show the current day and, in time order, meetings for that day with vital info - who's hosting, who's attending, what times, which room etc... Is there software that achieves this or would we have to knock something up?

We've got a 3 yr old one of these. Last summer, a contractor managed to stuff it full of dust and it stopped working, so we sent it back to Casio for what we thought would be a paid for repair. They repaired and returned it under warranty for nowt, I think they're kind to schools etc... I'd raise a return with them!

This would be a fine invention! Bitstrips are, on the other hand, completely useless and not in the least bit funny. They were blocked as soon as I realised they could be!

I'm taking the plunge in December, NZ not Australia though. I'm 30, have a 2 year working holiday visa and I'm in the same boat as you really, no kids or mortgage etc... I have a job in a school doing IT support! Better money (by £7k) and a company car, so it's financially better and I'll be able to surf warm seas every weekend! I say go for it. Even if it's just a year or two, you've got nothing to lose.

This is my job that's being advertised. It's a great place to work and reggiep isn't completely intolerable I'm leaving to emigrate to New Zealand, otherwise I'd be staying put!

As the above have said, it sounds like a pretty decent system, I'd be looking at the use rather than replacing outright. Maybe the positioning of the speakers relative to the microphones - we moved ours down our hall by about 3m and that helped a great deal when using the mics on the stage. Also, the careful use of gain on the mixing console will help! Some people boost too much at the gain stage and that causes issues. Oh yeah, get people to talk into the microphones from as close as possible!

In fact, our Domain appears to be deleting all local user accounts apart from the Administrator account, but it's only the laptop issue that I'm very keen to resolve with any haste! Could it be a Domain Group Policy which is still affecting the machine through the power of the registry? If so, which policy?! Anyone seen anything like this? Thanks, Ben!

Just a quick question...we run both Chrome and IE9 on our network as if something doesn't work on one, it'll work on the other... Does anyone do the same or should be we ploughing hours of time into fixing IE9 problems!?

Hello, you can probably do it machine to machine, but it'll be laborious. I'd get a Mac Mini or another iMac to run Workgroup Manager/Profile Manager.

We use plists through Workgroup Manager to control Finder and run an Applescript at login to map the drives how we like. We prevent access to all the pre made folders (music, video, pictures, etc) as they map locally. Our script maps the home folder to the "Documents" folder and hides/removes access to the rest. So all they see (and can save to) is the documents folder and any network shares. I can send you the plists and script if you want?

Hello! We're trying to deploy our Smartboard software through a modified MSI, but we're having some trouble. We've used the Smart Install Manager to modify/create an MST, which compiles fine out of the program, but when we try to apply the MST either in Group Policy Manager or using the command line, I get an error - "The list of modifications cannot be applied to this package. An error occurred accessing the software installation data in the active directory. See the even log for additional details." The msi log shows a 1603 error. Can't say more than that! Anyone used Smart Install Manager with any success or is that a more generic error? Ta, Ben

What synaesthesia said. Get any USB audio interface, that will process all the audio within the hardware, so you get much lower latency. We used to use Lexicon Alpha interfaces with our USB keyboards with no issues, we then upgraded our Keyboards to M-Audio Keystation 49i, which are 4 octave keyboards with a USB interface built in. Saves you a USB port and gives you some more I/O (including two headphone outputs, which is handy). If you do go down the interface route, we've got some Lexicon Alphas were not using which you could buy from us? Ben

Right, managed to trick the the Malware by inserting a couple of USB devices while it logged in, this allowed me to attempt a shut down using Ctrl + Alt + Del (which shut the Malware down) and gave me access to the desktop. Thanks for the help guys!

I've got a machine which is whole disk encrypted with PGP. It's got one of those malware jobbies on it that prevent you from doing anything once the OS loads, so I need to use a bootable AV disk. The problem is, none of the AVs I've tried can deal with the disk encryption, they all fail to mount the drive, as you'd expect. I've got the encryption password, but no idea how to get around this problem..! Any ideas? Ta, Ben

Which brands/models are you guys using that have failed? We're weighing up SANs at the moment, reliability is obviously high on our criteria!

Note sure how Firewire works, to be honest, but my TI chipset card is rock solid, even recording the full 16 ins simultaneously. They're not that expensive, I think mine cost £29 from eBay.

I've got a StudioLive too, which would only work with certain Firewire cards. The TI chipset ones seem to all work, but I made the mistake of using a non-supported one first. It wouldn't even connect. I'd say that if it's working with the cheaper card and it's stable, I wouldn't bother with a more expensive one.
