frosty Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 I was simply trying to help EG with an obvious error on a banner on the homepage. I even suggested that you delete my comment as I wasn't sure how to contact you re the error I had discovered. How should I have made you aware of the error without sounding like I was taking a swipe? I am sure btw that EG moderators have better things to do than post humiliating comments back? EG has resident Spelling/Grammar scouts? Do posters really want to be corrected or are they looking to get help in the EG community? Anyhow, sorry to the EG community for my original post if any offence was taken it was not intended.

There are several of us grammar pedants around already and we all cause a few sighs as we spot the obvious mistakes and keep ZH on his toes You're welcome to join us here too: Edugeek group: Pedantic Geeks
EduTech Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Registered! :-) See you all there as usual I did like the dietary requirements part! I stated 'No Thai Food' LOL

Some postings in the past have been unreadable due to spurling and gromer so a bit of correction here and thur is always gawd. Thanks. Ben 2
plexer Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Oh and I can't make the conference die to being on holiday with the family that week. So probably next years BETT before I catch up with people again. Ben

Honest!

Gatt Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Frosty I don't really see any difference bewteen you pointing out a mistake in the original and someone pointing out one in your reply. Nothing wrong in the reply tbh and Witch is one of the resident spelling/grammar scouts Ben "Between" even ?
witch Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 (edited) Sorry if I upset you, Frosty, but I was just commenting in the same vein as you and maybe you haven't been around edugeek long enough to understand the way we joke about grammar and spelling. We are always having a go at each other for correcting other people's posts and then making a mistake themselves -(see above)- we just think it is amusing Also, commenting on Dos_Box's spelling and grammar could drive you to drink if you are not already there Hence the pedantic geeks group. *I won't be at the conference as it is at least 5 hours drive or about a week on the train as well as ridiculously expensive. I can't convince either school to pay any of it.. Edited May 9, 2011 by witch

bjohnny42 Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Is there going to be a live video feed as last year that we could pop on and watch? I might not be making it this year.
Steve21 Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Is there going to be a live video feed as last year that we could pop on and watch? I might not be making it this year. For those that cannot attend We will be streaming the conference online courtesy of Adobe and Adobe Connect. More details are to follow about the streaming service. Guess so Steve
GrumbleDook Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 @bossman @john @Sylv3r if you are free the night before to have a chat I'll try and see if I can get a few others together ... 2 birds, 1 stone.
localzuk Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 No attendance from me this year sadly. Stupid coccyx and doctors.

KK20 Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 (edited) Used to live down the road from here (On Lea road). It is a little out "in the sticks" from the town. The 88C bus is best for getting there (and will drop you off outside the center) use the 88A to get back - they are contra orbital buses. Both these buses go from the bus station and pass the train station. 88C will also take you from the center to garstand road which is about a 2 mile walk to the IBIS along a single (large) road. They had just built a canal when I moved from there so you can use your barge and moor up if you wish (I'd like to see a pink slip for that expense going to the bursar). If adobe are there it might be worth a visit to see if they have any ideas on reliable ways to get adobe connect (player only) installed on domain user account with limited rights (install per user my arse) Edited May 10, 2011 by KK20 quick adobe swipe.
TheScarfedOne Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Im in... and no vino for you John lol! Drinks on EduTech again :-p??
