Leeoakley Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Hello All, Thought you might be able to help: I have a client (a college) who want some advice. What would you advise the best helpdesk solution is and why? they don't mind paying for the solution (they are after quality). I am going to direct them to this page so that they can ask questions in response with your recomendations. Thanks in advance. Lee
john Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 As a starter search here for Spiceworks as we have many good reviews and comments on it
Edu-IT Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 OP SmartDesk? Help desk Software, Customer Service Software, Support Ticket Software, Trouble Ticketing System, Asset Management Software
RetroTech Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Track It (helpdesk and asset management) Spiceworks Richmond Are to name but a few.
GREED Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Spiceworks is excellent. I also looked into ManageEngine which had a great lifecycle of product system in place, very smart, just costed a bit!
Sylv3r Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 We use Kayako Help Desk Software, Live Chat Software and Customer Service Software and have done for the last 5 years. The program has evolved over the last 6 months and although not perfect currently I still think it's a fantastic tool with intergrated knowledgebase, Desktop Client enabling chat and VNC capability to take over the end user PC. It's a one off cost and a small annual support cost if you wish to remain receiving updates etc. We even have a testimonial listed alongside the likes of RSPCA, SEGA etc. Testimonials from our customers - Kayako
JoeBloggs Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I also looked into ManageEngine which had a great lifecycle of product system in place, very smart, just costed a bit! ManageEngine ServiceDesk+ here...
plexer Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Another OP SmartDesk recommendation here it's great and evolving to meet customers ever changing needs all the time. Ben
Leeoakley Posted February 28, 2011 Author Posted February 28, 2011 Thanks for the responses, "ManageEngine ServiceDesk+" My client are looking at this solution at the moment. Is the feed back all good on it? OP SmartDesk + Spiceworks - i will advise they take a look at these too.
Nick_Parker Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 We're using Zendesk - a bit expensive but a nice look & feel.
mb2k01 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I'm a Kayako customer too. The new v4 platform is fantastic. The desktop app is much improved - live chat, remote assistance and VOIP/SIP functionality built in - amazing for the cost.
contink Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 We're using Zendesk - a bit expensive but a nice look & feel. Another vote for ZenDesk... I've recently integrated it with Zopim as well and giving some serious consideration to playing with the API in the future to make it even more useful for my eCommerce side of things...
GREED Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 ManageEngine ServiceDesk+ here... What did you think of this? I never got to use it live, only my own test version.
Gibbo Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 We use ManageEngine Servicedesk here - the free version (I'd buy the pro version if I had the money). Been a happy user for many years at various schools.
reggiep Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned HESK Help Desk Software HESK - a free PHP help desk which is free, is pretty straightforward to set up and has a really good interface.
Edu-IT Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 AJ Help Desk is the best web based help desk software with robust ticket support . It is also available in download version. You don't work for them, do you?
mb2k01 Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 You don't work for them, do you? First time poster and same geographical location I think... When companies do this, are you like me - does it make you far less likely to purchase from them?!
Hecate Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 We have our own home built database but I've looked at alternatives from time to time, I couldn't get to grips with spiceworks - I just couldn't get it to work the way I wanted, I quite liked liberum but not enough to change what we've got. If money was no object I'd go for the netsupport helpdesk or possibly Richmond
Edu-IT Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 First time poster and same geographical location I think... When companies do this, are you like me - does it make you far less likely to purchase from them?! Definitely. I did try to work out location of their office but their site was blocked as 'Web Chat' so can only assume they have chat on their contact page or something. Couldn't be bothered to bypass filtering for it.
sven Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 +1 for Spiceworks. We have been using it for a year, and it's so effective. Highly HIGHLY recommmend it.
