Not really sure where this sholdl go to be honest so thought its best in here. I am looking into a free helpdesk solution for the school ideally that can be integrated to AD but any suggestions are better than none. Somethings thats quick and simple to use and the can ideally support more than one tech/admin user. I have started to look at liberum.

Thanks

If you do a search on the site theirs quite a few to choose from - a free one from a member on here I seem to remember. The above two recommendations generally seem to be the most popular free helpdesk's members recommend.

I use Request Tracker - really good although not AD intergrated.

I run RT here and have it AD integrated. Its a bit of a faff to set up, but works.

Ahh I didn't know it was - although TBH I have never tried to set it up with AD - I just have it syncing using IMAP to exchange and staff send to the account.

GLPI has a helpdesk feature together with it's asset management. Although it has to be said that the helpdesk is not as user friendly toward non technical staff.

another webhelpdesk here.

The one techie license basically means you've got one techie login for it. If you pay for it, you can set it up to assign work to different techies....

With the free version you can be logged into the same account more than once, so just run it as that and go for the good old NM verbally tells X to work on job 12 and Y to work on job 14 etc... :D

We use OTRS here (OTRS: Open Source Help Desk and IT Service Management Solution | Home), it's free and open source.

Can handle as many support staff as you want, picks up emails and puts them into the call logs or can be web based for the customers also. It's very flexible and can be expanded to handle change requests using an ITIL compliant module. The customers and support staff can be integrated into AD if you want. It is not simple to setup but using it is not too difficult, especially if you have your customers interact with it via email.

If anyone needs something simple, I've re-uploaded my MS Access based system to .

It basically logs calls in chronological order, let's you assign priorities and close jobs once complete. It's editable in Access, so if anyone wants to modify it for their own use, or add a web interface to it, then feel free. Any feedback, or sharing of useful modifications would be welcome.

We did use Request Tracker...

But planning on switching to GLPI as you can have AD and single sign on to make it faster for staff to use. :D

another webhelpdesk here. same as everyone else, 1 techie login between the two of us. we rarely both login at the same time anyway. set up for email tickets so we can do it all via email.

jwood: webhelpdesk is a free 1 techie licence helpdesk software (from Help Desk Software by Web Help Desk i believe)
