Are you Certified? What IT Qualifications / Training Do You Have?

NVQ Level 3, first 2 semesters of Cisco CCNA, I did animation & multimedia for sixth form & dropped out of a-level IT because it was basically a repeat of GCSE and I was having a pretty bad year with home stuff at the time!

 

pretty much self taught for everything else though

All but first one really - I'm mainly self taught, been on a few courses, and hold an HND

I have a MEng in Computer Science but no chance of getting any additional IT training here . Did get sent on a steps and ladders course however

Oh yes, I forgot - we got sent on a course where they showed us how to lift and carry a sack of cement properly.

Manual handling, Working at heights, PAT Testing (which I may become the schools PAT tester at 65p per item (20p cheaper than they currently pay), and having over 6000 items, thats alot of cash for me!), Fire safety (I am a fire marshal and get an extra £5 a week!), Advanced First Aid (which I paid for myself, and am fully qualified to use defibrillators until 2012), paediatric first aid (which also covers adult first aid, and again paid for by myself), and with the first aid courses I get an extra £7 per week also.

 

I have a BTEC National Diploma which is what I attained at college. Since then, nothing, nada, zip. However if all goes well, in September I will be getting CCNA, CCNP and CCIE (curtesy of my local college, for free in return for giving their 4 students 6 weeks work experience, every term I get new students). Once I have the CCNA, the school has agreed to bump my pay up by £1000 per year, when I get the CCNP that will go up to £3000, and the CCIE that will go up to £10000 - which is a HUGE incentive on me passing!

B.Sc. Hons in Information Technology + HND in Computer Studies + 14 years of on the job experience in the private and public sector = really rubbish wage (but at least I've still got a job for now!)

Got an HND in Computing, MCP x2 and Security+

 

For a while thought about doing a lot more but the truth is I dont really need them at this point in time - hopefully for future jobs my 5+ years experiance will count for more than a few more MS exams. Would rather spend my time learning something non computing - eg Spanish

GCSE Computing, BTEC ND Computer Studies, BSC (Hons) Applied Computing, ICS Diploma in PC Repair, VMWare Certified Professional, Fire Saftey Cert, and First Aid Cert.

 

Currently studying for the 70-640 MCTS Exam which I may complete sometime this year if I get my finger out of my....

Am currently completing a degree with the Open Uni, and the CCNA. Have A-Level IT and 1 1/2 yrs on the job experience with RM and M$ and 3 yrs of hardware / software desktop maintenance.

 

Self taught programming in C++ and experience in Java with the OU and soon a shiny new Android phone

 

And will be starting the MCTS in Oct to finish in June.

A-Level Computing, BSc Computer Networking + Security, have completed all the CCNA stuff and half of the CCNP stuff as part of my degree but never did the exams - hoping to rectify that at some point! Also starting out studying Microsofty stuff... + 1 years experience of actually working, a few years of part time experience, and about 8 years of geekery in hobby form!

Computing A-Level, ICT (ewww) A-Level and Electronics A-Level the electronics does help, more with the AV side of things.

 

im doing the NASA (Network and System Administration) course at lancaster uni, doing the last months assignment now.

 

Self taught in PHP (although i dont use it much any more) and Ruby. I also learnt everything i know about linux from blogs etc...

I started this job when i left 6th form, i only had ECDL. 5 years on i have a HNC in software design and have started an Open Degree. Would do my CCNA and MS ones if i had the time and money.

HNC in Computing (Software Engineering) - partly self funded

MCSE Server 2000 - partly self funded

MCSA Server 2003 - totally self funded

CCNA course through Open University - totally self funded

 

I'm only an MCSA on 2003 because I did one upgrade exam rather than two. My plan was to upgrade to MCITP and it was the same number of exams whichever route I took. At the time I had a lot going on in my life and had to pay for the exams myself although my employer would let me have some time off to take them. Unfortunately I haven't had the inclination, time or money to do any more yet.

I took the CompTia A+ course 2 years ago, which led me into this career, as I was mainly self-taught up until that point.

only 2 years experience as a NM 3 years as a games tester before that

 

All the MCTS have been self study but the school kindly payed for the books and exams.

Mainly self taught but with a few courses under my belt ... slowly picking up some more (got Prince2 booked in now for July) but still prefer getting the experience rather than the course.

 

A lot of my 'extra' stuff like first aid, etc have all lapsed now and no intention of getting them again.
