A colleague was in Sweden and had to pay near 900 Euros to get back! Coach from Stockholm to Malmo (6 hours), then change at Malmo and then go to Copenhagen (3 hours), Copenhagen to Berlin (5 hours), Berlin to Calais (9 hours), Ferry from Calais (2 hours) Dover to home (3 hours)

He was not a happy chappy!

Bet the trip through Europe was nice though, plenty of views!

We have several out including our head who is stuck in Australia!

Serves him right going to Australia on a 2 week break! ;) Hardly worth it when you factor in all the flying time is it?

I'm just wondering - d'you think all the cancelled flights will offset the CO2 being emitted by this volcano?

Otherwise we really should cancel natural disasters like these for fear of global warming*.

Precisely... it's a joke, could go on and on but beginning to sound jealous. Shame some of them will manage to get back too.

Don't you know teachers have to go on multiple holidays every year so that they can come back and instill some culture into the pupils, at least that's what the Teaching Unions told me. ;)

The cancelled flights more than offset the CO2 from the volcano. Overall the volcano is good for the environment!

There we go then! Solution to both problems is to bring back airships. :)

We have 17 teaching staff missing and 3+ support staff (1 IT Tech). The principal, vice principal and one assistant principal are all stuck. Both head and deputy of sixth form missing (one in Oz, other in Brazil).

Some staff are already saying it will be at least a week before they get back.

Took on 7 cover staff today. Also had my media Tech poached for cover (he's doing GTP from Sept) which means I'm down to just 2 out of 5 staff.

Kids have started to take advantage already .......

So how many staff are not in on day 1?

We currently have 20 out, and they are considering not running year 7 or 8 classes this week

I can't wait to ask them, "did you have a nice break?"

:getmecoat:

No-one on support staff seems to be paid enough for multiple forign holidays per year.

Couldn't agree more with that one, we are 2 teachers down with a due date of after the bank holiday weekend (so that's early May), heads PA and Site Manager so not too bad thankfully!
