smadison Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Go back to what i did before, blowing things up with explosives 1
broc Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 I was going to be an Electrical Engineer (Electronics as we know it hadn't really been invented in those days). Unfortunately I didn't get the A-level grades I needed & was offered courses in either Civil Engineering or this new fangled Computer Studies.... at the time I thought Civil Engineering meant spending my time outside on building sites with a hard hat & wellies so I chose Computer Studies...... the rest is history
dgsmith Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 I was going to be an Electrical Engineer (Electronics as we know it hadn't really been invented in those days). Similar type of path I was heading down, only I was simply training to be a sparkie (that's an electrician for those of us who haven't fully woken up yet)! Went to college, got through the first year, I felt it had gone well, but when i took some experience with an electrician he told me otherwise and suggested I start over again! Bit of a knock that was, especially since by this time it was late Sept/Oct (going back a good few years now) and all colleges/companies had taken on by that time, so I was sort of left out in the cold! Local job/training centre asked what else I wanted to do (was feeling somewhat depressed by then!), I mentioned I had an interest in IT.. everything just seemed to fit in to place from there, either by luck or fate!
K.C.Leblanc Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Before I worked in a school I worked in a factory making vending machines (the type you find in toilets).
ButterflyMoon Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Always wanted to be a Police woman but was too short in the legs and by the time they reduced the height limit I was too old to apply!!! Now it would be a Complementary Therapist which I do part time anyway in the evenings. Plan to do that full time when I retire tho.
Pottsey Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 I would be working outdoors all year around as a yard hand looking after horse’s, training horse’s and most likely I would be 2 stone lighter.
Midnight Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Photographer. I was asked, a few months ago, if I would take some 'personal' photos for a young lady who frequents my local watering hole!!!
azrael78 Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 In all honesty - I don't know... due to my disabilities - IT seemed like the best thing for me. However - I guess something like working as a researcher, maybe MI:5 researcher. To be honest I don't know. My disabilities do restrict what kind of employment I could feasibly do. I'd LIKE to do something like Customs at an Airport - but who knows Az
bandgeekmafia78 Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 I actually once had an interview for Mi5 but didn't pass the exam. Gutted. I could have been a fat ginger James Bond.
Sirbendy Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 I've always been an electronics and car nut...I was going to do an electronics course, but a friend convinced me to do IT instead. Do I regret it? Maybe, sometimes. Cars and IT are merging though.
bossman Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Just wanted to be a ladies man (Gigalo, Porn star)..................Hmmmmmm drifts off into eternal bliss...........................snorrrreeeeeeeeii..............Dreammmmiiinnngggggggggg.......................................ddddddderrrrrdddd...........dddderddd.........ddddddddung.............................................The names Bond..................................Brooke Bond................................................Licensed to thrill.......hehe.................................................Wakes up..........Arrggghhhh ;) 2
AyatollahPies Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Serial killer. What has Tony the Tiger ever done to you? Id like to start my own micro brewery and never have to use a computer ever again. let alone support them.
BandyQuill Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 motorsport engineer, i wanted to be the man that repaired the rally cars, love to tinker, and i love rally, but didnt get the qualifications to go to uni, so i fell into IT
SteveBentley Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 When I was a kid I wanted to be a television cameraman. Early into my teenage years, I wanted to be a radio presenter. After that I knew I definitely wanted to do something involving computers - at the time the main focus was on programming. This is kind of where I was going, I did a GNVQ (remember them?) in Media in the 6th form, but a slightly dubious choice of degree course led me into focussing on web stuff and from there into more general IT stuff. Probably a good call, seeing the state of the radio industry at the moment!
SamCT Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Theatre tech... then electrician, and now mechanic. I'll do them all one day!!
korifugi Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Some kind of evil genius that dashes people's hopes and dreams, ruling my domain with an iron fist and an angry glare.... Waaaaitaminute...
Guest Htech Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 definatly some kind of audio engineering/Post production/Live sound/Recording love it
patty04 Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 well i was a chef for 4 years. then i was a plasterer for a year then been in ICT for the last 2 years. i wanted to be an electrician, but could never get an apprenticeship.
BatchFile Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 I used to be a stage lighting/theatre technician which was great fun but minimum wage... and for some reason I always wanted to be a coach driver! Love getting in the classroom occasionally too, ICT teaching these days doesn't float my boat (far too arty) but teaching French or Science is a hoot. Fortunately, as I work in a small secondary school I get to do all of the above from time to time:D
Techie101 Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Porn Star, all two and a half inches of me:D
