winuser Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 I was asked yesterday by one of the students if she could practice her singing in my room (the server room) for the school talent show later that morning... she's one of my favourite kids in the school so I would've had no problem with it (especially not when it was my last day there too ) but I had to say no as my manager would've looked on it less kindly! She won anyway
featured_spectre Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Had some of the not so smart kids ask me for the following. Long weights Sky hooks Skirting board ladders Left handed screw drivers Left handed pens Tartan paint I know someone was having a laugh but really are the kids so thick?! 1

sparkeh Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Got a new one! Teacher asked: "I've just got a new car, and I wondered if you knew the code for the Radio as it's not working." Hehe. Reminds me, one of our teachers got a new car and asked if if I could show her how to open the fuel cap, and the bonnet...and how to check the oil and top up the water, what all the bits on the indicator sticks did..and etc etc... Not sure how she even made it into school that day.
Batman Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Got a new one! Teacher asked: "I've just got a new car, and I wondered if you knew the code for the Radio as it's not working." That is truly outstanding!
pete Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Had some of the not so smart kids ask me for the following. Sky hooks Maybe they just had high hopes?

featured_spectre Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Had some genius ones recently Since there is a speed of light and a speed of sound, is there a speed of smell? Are there a lot of virgins in the Virgin Islands? Do crematoriums give discounts to burn victims? What is the diameter of a square? Do vampires get AIDS? Does that screwdriver belong to Phillip? Where is Old Zealand? Why do we call something sent by car a shipment and something sent by ship a cargo?
Guest theeldergeek Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 I got asked by a student if there was a flasher in the office that she could use. She meant a 'Flashgun' for the digital SLR. Poor girl went away quite embarrassed after she realised.
p858snake Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 (edited) Had some of the not so smart kids ask me for the following. Sky hooksYou don't happen to have those rope/display cords that go across the top of classrooms? I believe they are called skydisplays by some so hooks for them would make sense.... ssiruuk2 Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Could I remove some sandwiches that had been rammed into a VCR player? Do I know how to break into a car if they have lost their remote blipper and keys. Could I go and change someones car battery? Could I mend someones glasses whose lens had fallen out. The answer was no to all of them
ricki Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Was asked what it was like in blitz the other day. Goodness knows how old they think I am. Ricjard
adhutton Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Had a teacher ask if I could defraggle their PC! Andrew 1
cheredenine Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 I've helped remove unwanted birds (a pigeon and an unspecified small bird) from an outlying building. I say help; i mean chase ineffectually until aformentioned bird decides to leave anyway!
Dom_ Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Had a teacher ask if I could defraggle their PC! Andrew Did they have defraggler installed? Download Defraggler 1.15.163 - FileHippo.com Reasonable question if they did!
adhutton Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Did they have defraggler installed? Download Defraggler 1.15.163 - FileHippo.com Reasonable question if they did! Oh well, you learn something new every day! I didn't even know that existed..... No, we don't have it installed on our school machines....so their request did amuse us at the time:D Andrew
SteveBentley Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Fraggles are closely related to muppets aren't they? Must be some joke about the user concerned that could be contrived from that...
contink Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 I'm still giggling at the defraggling thing... Classic ... and yes, not muppets but I think they were produced by the Jim Henson Company people
machin05 Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Strangest ones we get are: Clean up sick in a classroom Change a flat tyre Rescue a bat trapped in a classroom
p858snake Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Strangest ones we get are: Clean up sick in a classroomI hope you didn't.... Thats classed as a biohazard and requires special training apparently, same as blood.
jamesreedersmith Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 Typewriter - and not an electric one!!
machin05 Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 I hope you didn't.... Thats classed as a biohazard and requires special training apparently, same as blood. No chance! I did help rescue the bat though. He was trapped under a pipe, bless.
