One area I was going to ask about at the Edugeek conf and thought you may be able to investigate it now you will not be tied to an employer/LEA is union provision for techies! From my perspective no union such as Unison, or even the teaching unions that take associate membership from other school based staff have much idea about the actual jobs we do. If you could somehow form a Edugeek affiliation with a union that could combine their muscle and Edugeek's expertise in representing school based ict staff I'm sure quite a number of people would consider joining up. Just a suggestion, I'm sure you have a lot on your plate at the moment. 2

EduGeek.net as union won't happen mainly down to cost (Tony once looked into this for us unless anyone has got really uncle lurking anywhere). But like idea of affiliation but do have problem if choose one union over another. Unions are a very closed set we are making head way and last month had an offer to introduce us to the unions so that we can start talking with them so do watch this space.

The best of luck with it all and we know you will do well. As always ... anything I can help with (other than organising stuff) just ask. Happy to volunteer a few people to do it

Secondly it may be worth listing some of the items you require for the office set up as if theres something I can do to help I will and judging by the response I am sure other sponsors / contributors would do the same.

But this site is an amazing resource, one of the first places I turn to for help and have solved many problems simply by clicking "search". I look forward to seeing how much bigger it can grow and how much of an influence it can have on IT in education
