JJonas Posted April 29, 2009 Author Posted April 29, 2009 On a lighter note I had a bit of a cold last week which has played on my asthma and left me with a bit of a cough. The little bit of anarchist in me wanted to go into Sainsbury's wearing a sombrero hat and buy loads of mexican food. Just to see what would happened.

localzuk Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Considering hayfever is making a comeback at the moment, it is going to cause a high demand for people calling the NHS with runny noses etc... Some things come to mind though. There have been various reports on grass-roots news sites stating that the Mexican govt are keeping it on the down low. ie. more people are dying than is being reported officially. One doctor said his clinic had seen 100 deaths from it so far. True? I don't know. But it is the sort of thing governments usually do. Also, the media are going up and interviewing the people with it over there and in other countries, rather than them being in complete isolation. How is that going to help prevent the spread of it?!
cookie_monster Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 @ localzuk - yes i'm sure we'll look back in a couple of years and see the stupidity of it all, the media really can be a bunch of desperados (excuse the pun)

gibbo_ap Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 i had a text whilst walking in this morning from one of our retired dept heads 'if you are bored whilst on the tube/bus etc pretend you are on the phone discussing your 4week tour of mexico, then cough and hang up' being early it did take a few seconds lol

cookie_monster Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 (edited) Anyone remember bird flu? Yes apparently H1N1 contains elements of bird flu make up but it is a different strain Edited April 29, 2009 by cookie_monster
Theblacksheep Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Anyone remember bird flu? No, it crossed species and killed everyone.
plexer Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Good news everyone: TAMIFLU is also available in a fruit–flavored liquid form. Yummy. Ben
jamesb Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Anyone remember bird flu? Which bird flu? Or BSE? Or that we're all going to die from drinking from plastic bottles? Or that we should all be dying of brain tumours due to mobiles? Or wireless networks? Or that everyone vaccinated with the MMR vaccine is now autistic? Or that eating fish will give us all mercury poisoning? Or that we're all going to die of radiation poisoning? The list is far too long. Its a miracle we're not all dead already.
tech_guy Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 "The only known cure for Swine Flu has been found to be the liberal application of oinkment." "Apparently my mate's got Swine Flu, I think he's just telling porkies, though." "Will there be a mass outbreak of Human/Avian Swine flu? When pigs fly." "So Pig Flu has started in America. Who says God doesn't have a sense of humour?" 3
Jiser Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Was only in San Diego a week or so ago and came back with soar throat, lung infection/cough. Just spreading the swine virus about school.
unixman Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 The Israeli government rejected the name swine flu, and opted to call it "Mexico flu." The US pork industry have also called for a name change; people might think you can catch the disease for eating roast pork. What ever next?
