I'm not going in at all over christmas. But will probably do the odd bit of work remotely before the launch of our sharepoint solution to all parents and students in January 09.

Planning to do a major re-RIS'ing of client workstations so I'll be spending a bit of time getting a new RIS image ready for each of the schools I have.

Beyond that though it's tax return time so I'll be dealing with all that paperwork... :(

Just wondering if there is there a reason why you just reboot a server?

It's often useful if over the last x months since last reboot you've made changes which say "please restart your machine" and you don't, or you've made config file changes which don't appear to take effect until reboot.

I've been linux boxes be rebooted after a years uptime to find they no longer boot because someone messed up a closing comment in /etc/rc.conf. - I'd sooner it broke during maintenance than during a random power cut.

If nothing else, updates often require reboots that are suppressed by GPO so it's just nice :)

I finish on the 19th and then working from home the 22nd and 23rd. Re-doing the school website and want some quiet time to do that. Plus I can put some films on and catch up.

I'll be working for most of the holiday with a week or so off

My list is pretty short at the moment...

1. Upgrade Sims

2. Provide tech support to the finance department while they run off the fee bills

3. General server/network maintenance

4. Lots of research

5. possibly clean a few projector filters

Break up on 19th for a fortnight - school is closed but I like to take all of Xmas off still.

My plans are to get plenty of ale down my throat and for the more sober days I might even try to catch up with uni work :D

I'm in, (much to the disgruntlement of the site staff) apart from 25/26 as I need to save my holiday for hospital visits next year!

Do you mean for visiting someone in hospital? Or for you being in hospital?

Taking my other half. She has to attend a hospital in London every week and has to go to Sutton periodically as well, so when she needs me to take her, I have to have a day/half day holiday.

School finishes on the 19th and so do I. First proper long holiday I've had all year and won't be in till the 5th of Jan. Plenty of sleep. lazing around. listening to music, watching DVDs, mucking about on the computers and boozing!

stevenewman - do you not get time off at all for hospital appointments then? The reason I ask is that' it's never been a problem here thankfully, as I had quite a few visits last year due to eye torubles.
