  1. Hi Jordon, Is the role Oxfordshire or West London? thanks,
  2. Hi all, has anyone in the south east have a console cable I could borrow for an MSA 1000. I belive the cable is unique to HP MSA 1000. ( markwilson.it » Configuring an HP MSA1000 using a serial cable ) our san has been down since yesterday and HP cant send an enginner until monday just to get the logs from MSA, meaning it maybe a few days before they can resolve it. I am trying to get hold of the cable so we can get the logs to them today so enginners can spend the weekend fixing it rather than waiting for log files! many thanks,
  3. Hijacking the thread slightly, was just wondering how many schools actually issue PGCE's laptops. We currently give them logins, emails and limited to access to shared areas and VLE. We have 4 laptops available to loan for lessons but they are complaining they want one each! Granted they need them to teach because every classroom has an IWB and laptop docking station (not fixed computers) but there are plenty of other computers to plan etc on. Some are happy using their own laptops in the classrooms which is great aslong as they plug all the cables back in to the docking station

  5. 6. We use a fingerprint system from synel reading from our biostore database, i woudnt recommend it as the readers are not that great. hijacking the thread abit i was just wondering how much other schools are locked down? we have two gates set up with auto modes to open automatically at certain times, with grouploops to get out, fingerprint/card reader, fobs and intercom to get in followed by reception doors with auto modes, fingerprint, cards, intercom to get in and RTE button to get out aswell as fingerprint/card access to 5 server/comms rooms in the school. the system uses equipment from synel, jacksons and dorma. it also links in to the fire alarm and inturder alarm system and is getting very difficult to support.

  8. hi, I just got this deal from PCworld ( SAMSUNG PS50C680 50" Full HD Plasma 3D TV at cheap prices | PC World ) on a SAMSUNG PS50C680 50" Full HD Plasma 3D TV but i cannot see how the 3D works with my PS3. the ps3 is completley updated and did detect that it was a 50" 3d TV but how do i turn it 3d on? all i can find is unhelpfull youtube videos showing it in 3D ( ) the TV came with 3 3D shutter lens glasses. should there be an emitter for these or is it built in? as far as i no the HDMI cable is type 1.4 thanks for reading
  9. hi, just wondering what everyone has as a typical classroom setup. we have 50 classrooms with IWB's and HP docking stations in each room. pretty much every member of staff has a laptop that is compaitble with the docking stations. but we are now trying to renew some our older laptops but the new HP laptops are not compatiable with the old HP docking stations (only 3 years old.) buying new docking stations would then mean the old laptops are no good! (staff move round and need to be able to use all rooms) as far as i can see our options are replace every staff laptop and docking station at the same time a dedicated desktop in everyroom staff plug usb, vga, network cables at the start of every lesson USB docking stations that will still require staff to plug in charger
  10. tired the google but failed. instead found the problem with the answer file and re-imaged. thanks
  11. Hi all, strange problem. created a new XP SP3 image but the answer file hasnt worked 100% and i havent got time to investigate why, so i am manually entering in product key and changing regional settings from US to UK keyboard. the US keyboard is showing as completly deleted but at the login screen the " and @ symbols are mixed up. once you log on as a user they work fine, back to login screen and they change back again! anyone got a quick fix? 105 laptops im trying to image in a hurry
  12. cheers domino. i'll see if we got any spare server OS. probaly only for a few months so i want to avoid cost.
  13. Hi, does anyone know if BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express needs to be installed on an exchange /sbs server? we have a complicated setup so i want to avoid putting this on the server currently (we are going to upgrade our servers to exchange 2010 this year) so would ideally like the system to run from a desktop using XP or windows 7. only about 30 users. offical System requirements: Any of the following operating systems: • Windows Server® 2003 SP2 (32-bit or 64-bit) • Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 (32-bit or 64-bit) • Windows Server 2008 SP2 (32-bit or 64-bit) • Windows® Small Business Server 2003 • Windows Small Business Server 2008 but i have seen it running on XP before! thanks!
  14. Hi, has anyone else been told by LEA's/LGFL that they must have USO for next year to be able to access fronter (London MLE). our LEA has told us we will be cut of from fronter by Jan 2011 if we do not sign up to USO. We already have a perfect SSO that links active directory, fronter and our library system. If this is true we may pull out of the London MLE rather than switch our SSO to their USO. (we are an independant academy but use the LEA's/London MLE)
  15. Hi, Could you please quote us for a Ultra320 SCSI drive (300 GB, 10K) with an educational discount if possible. The HP part number is 404701-001. Regards,
  16. Augmented reality software is available to academies free of charge through SSAT. SSAT provide you with the printer markers and all you do is browse to Learn AR , select your resource and allow webcam access when prompted. Only a few resources at the moment, hopefully they will make some more. There is a demo marker you can print

  20. made no changes but the problem seems to have resolved itself. We have a few more members of staff using desktops with the same image and no problem at all. also about 20 members of staff using laptops (a seperate image) and we have not had any problems at all. but now very hesitant in rolling out to student machines.

  23. mines working fine. HTC touch pro 2 have you got the wireless set up as a "work" network and then the proxy set in Start > settings > connections > edit my proxy server. I had a few diffrent windows mobile phones that try to put the proxy elsewhere I have had problems with a few HP's 6715's but hard resets sorted them
  24. I need help with a very strange problem! We have replaced 7 of our Admin machines over to new HP's running windows 7. Friday afternoon 1 user reports all of their files on their home directory are gone. Could have been user error?? Monday morning another 4 staff have the same problem. Going through the backups we can see 2 users did not have any files when the Friday night backup was done. Meaning 2 users lost their data late Friday afternoon and 2 must have lost their data first thing Monday morning because there data was there for the Friday night backup. We did not have time to the test image as much as I would have liked to but it was pretty plain image with only office 2007 installed all patches and Symantec endpoint. We have found two issues but I can’t see how they would delete home directories. First one was drive mapping conflicting during the log on script because the H drive was used by a memory card reader. remapping the memory card reader and drive mapping worked fine. Second one was home directories just displaying as "documents" in \\*file server*\*share*\ rather than the login name before, however if you opened the documents folder, it is showing as \\*file server*\*share*\*user* and same within command prompt. Not sure if this just how windows 7 works but obviously we would like to see the login in the share and not just "Documents" for everyone. Any help would be appreciated! I need to replace 8 more of these machines ASAP so I can use the old admin machines for a new primary IT area.
