Sorry to say it crashed my browser again today!

This has happened to me on IE and on Firefox now on different machines, once at home and once here this morning. When this happens, the entire browser becomes un-responsive and only action is to close the browser and re-open.

Crashed me this morning too

I know Edugeek needs the money, but a whole page advert overlaying Edugeek?

NOT the image to be projected to prospective members, I wouldn't have thought.

It's the fact that it covers the whole screen and you don't know if you are where you thought you were, if you see what I mean, that irritates me

It crashed my home desktop yesterday, on my laptop it tried to display in the narrow bit at the top where Google ads are usually and today at work it covered the whole screen and wouldn't go away until I hit the button in Task Manager. (Oops sorry that's rather a long "sentence")

I would just add that it is very distracting when it appears when I've no idea how long it will be there for.

Locked out IE7 today as well

I seriously think you ought to pull the add and rethink your pizza funding, I'm not usually one for complaining, but if i implemented this in school I'd have to pull it until I knew it worked.

In effect I will probably avoid the site until the adds are gone

Thousands of members have to put up with this advertising just to feed a handful of people? Doesn't seem to work for me - fair enough if it was for everyone.

That seems a little selfish to me. An advert is no hassle to me. Just look at it, get rid of it or go to the site. Time lost? 5 seconds tops.

The advert is no hassle at all - that's why nearly everyone on this topic have said it crashed their computer.

Yes, it just took over my whole browser yet again!!

This time the browser remained responsive, but the ad took over the edugeek page, no edugeek, just ad!

Erm. More than 6000 members, and a handful of complaints. Doesn't seem like a high ratio to me. People don't post when something works...

Read this topic - woundered what you where all talking about, went back to main page........

and the add crashed my browser and media player both together. nice

Thats just the point! its not 5 seconds its a minute or more while I ctrl-alt-del end task and get back to where I was before it crashed my browser.

I'm not saying don't do it, just fix it first so it dosent crash the majority of browsers.....

@Localzuk: Just to add onto my last post...

Over 6000 members yet the poll option that has been on the home page for months has only had 114 responses. There is a possible option there for everyone so you can't tell me the poll is aimed at a select few. My point? If so few can be arsed to click twice on a mouse, then surely even fewer can be arsed to type something in a keyboard.

Well got think time for response we have got ZH/IDG looking into the browser crashing issue.

Next over the Symantec advert as wholecurrently admins are discussing this we will see the Symantec advert through (only little longer then it goes).

At same time we are discussing if we ever do it again was gain worth it etc.

I think we had mixed response to it some didn't mind it some did but take all views into account.

Think if we lave it at that for know but please be assured we do take everyones view into account.

Just to add to it, im all for this fund raising scheme, but again its locked up IE for me, which made me :censored: cross tbh! I'd not have minded if it hadn't locked up but it did and I then lost what I was doing on other parts of the browser.

Hmm this seems strange.

I have tweaked it again. I assume you are all still saying the advert which appears in the middle of the screen (not the posts advert in the first post).

That ad should only appear once per day (uses a cookie) so you shouldnt have multiple problems with it. I personally have not really had issues other then the positioning one with any browser I use.
