Every summer I remember doing hundreds of PCs, I think at some point I started seeing the progress screen in my dreams! I wonder what they will do now - I suppose it could be a push to get everything shifted to the cloud.
Norphy Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Funny you should say that about SCCM. I've always found MDT's task sequences to be overcomplicated to an entirely unnecessary degree. I've always preferred SCCM's task sequences. You can bloody keep Intune though. 1

I do have an MCM server that I built and played around with to get an understanding of it, but never took the plunge of bringing it into service to replace MDT. I'll need to renew that effort, methinks. Soooo complicated, though.

I'm only getting a 9.8kB stub. My MDT download is an old one, so would be good to update it if I need to rebuild!

MrEprise Posted January 7 Posted January 7 I think it's dependent on the browser used. For me, Waterfox downloaded the odd 9.8Kb stub whereas Chrome downloaded both MSI files fine. 1

We're currently on the below with zero issues, deploying Windows 11 25H2 MDT - 6.3.8456.1000 Windows ADK - 10.1.22621.1 Or I might just leave as is, "not broken don't fix"...

Same MDT version here, which I believe was the last one anyway. Your ADK is more recent that ours (10.1.2200.1). Also deploying Win11 25H2 here. I'm worried that the Secure Boot certificate expirations later this year might affect things wrt our MDT setup, specifically the ADK version and whether the WinPE image is signed with the older cert, so I'm going to return to working on getting MCM into production now. We still have afew non-UEFI devices around the place which I think are not going to survive a transistion to MCM with the latest ADK. Edited January 7 by jthompson

Same setup here, and working fine with W11 24H2 (Despite ADK 10.1.26100.2454 (Download and install the Windows ADK | Microsoft Learn) stating support for W11 25H2/24H2 etc). And although we use Intune for most app deployment / configuration, just so easy to use MDT to initially deploy our custom image (I know I could run scripts to remove Apps etc) and model specific drivers etc as well as re-deploying OS images back on if needed. I see that ADK 10.1.280001 states support for W11 26H1 - so perhaps MDT can be squeezed into continued use up until the bitter end (of 25H2) in October 2028 SCCM appears an overkill to deploy (PXE) boot and deploy an image (with drivers), especially for those who may be egg intolerant...

I found MDT a pain to maintain through Windows 11 versions. I thought SCCM was just an extension of MDT and they were closely related.
altecsole Posted January 7 Posted January 7 It looks like I'm in the minority - I've used SCCM for years and like it! I replaced my old server a few weeks ago, and it wasn't too bad - although you do need to set aside some time to do it. There are lots of guides on the Internet, but I'd be happy to share my notes, if anyone is interested.
Mr.Ben Posted January 7 Posted January 7 I've been using OSD Cloud for almost 2 years - it does what's needed to get the devices to Autopilot and is easy to extend to admin missing drivers - I thoroughly recommend!

Proving that Edugeek is still the place to come for all sys admins, whether working in schools or otherwise. I have downloaded from the link here via the Way Back machine so that I know I have a copy of the installer. I did notice that was released on 15th July 2024, so it's the version we're already on, but useful to have a copy of the installer anyway.

I've asked for the 30 day demo but they are slow giving it until I say whether I am going to purchase and pay support. I cannot give them that guarantee so they are slow giving it out.
