smarties11 Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 Hi All, I'm looking for some printing stats from secondary schools. If you have something like PaperCut and have these statistics, I'd be really interested to know... The number of pages your School printed between September 2023 and August 2024 - all printing, across all printers and photocopiers within your School The number of students on roll We've had our eye off the ball with print volumes since COVID (stopped monitoring and recharging due to COVID 'catch up') and they just seem to be escalating; we've a new Reprographics contract in place now and are starting to bring that back into line, and now our focus is turning to the rest of the School's printing estate; with a view to going down a managed print & virtual queue route. We already have PaperCut. I'm looking to get data from as many Secondary Schools as possible so I can see where we fit, as an average..... Thank you 🙂

Rob_D Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 1.6m pages, approx. 14% colour and 62% duplex. At the time we had about 1,100 students and 160 staff. 18MFDs (including the 2 big ones in repro), and 9 office printers. Top 5 MFDs, outside of repro, do over 100k pages each. Repro MFDs do 300k and 200k. 1
PotNoodleTech Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 (edited) We managed covid madness entirely with no printing. The teachers stil taught, the pupils stil learned. It confirmed exactly what i said all along for the last 10+ years, that we do not need to print at all. Sadly the laziness has set back in full force and were back to larger than pre covid volumes. SLT have done nothing to combat it despite my once a year protests. Realistically if the heateacher doesnt instruct the staff to not print and use google or whatever your fighting an unwinnable battle as grumbling about bulb hours per year in your line management doesnt actually have any effect on them up top as they dont actually give two hoots about bulbs or hours or trees. 1 million pages printed on 677,000 sheets of paper. 82% mono. Chalkey Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 2.4M pages approx 1600 students approx 250 staff 1 repro machine 7 copiers 21 desktop printers 1
nwkeene Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 3.5M pages, 2.1M printed sheets, 96% greyscale (we force it), 4% colour, Reprographics accounted for 60% of printing. 2M printing, 1.5M copying, 1200 active users, 52 printers, 1700 pupils, approx 250 staff 78% Duplex, 22% simplex, averages to 9500 pages per day, 5800 sheets per day. 1
Julian Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 1 Sep 2024 to 31 Mar 2025 884,662 Printed pages 90% grayscales, 10% colour. Duplex 70%, single sided 30% Reprographics accounted for 1/3 of the total, and Exam printing was a significant ammout of that. 1200 students 120 staff 13 large photocopies / printers (for follow me printing) Papercut is used a combined staff / student, printing / photocopying management solution. We use “follow me printing”, as forcing users to go and collect printing makes them think about if they need to print. While student do print, compared to staff their usage is very small. I have configured Papercut so that everyone has their own code, there are no department codes. so, printing/photocopying is all tracked to a person. Department do have an account, and staff can select from the appropriate account for who is paying for their photocopying. An automatic report each month tells each head of department who is spending the departments money. It is up to the HOD to manage their budget. 1

3s-gtech Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 1100 users: 593,876 pages printed. This doesn't include any copying, that's just prints. 1
machy Posted April 23, 2025 Posted April 23, 2025 i found a slightly more terrifying way of quantifying the printing and have added this to my Email signature On Printing: Between Jan 6 & April 4 2025 We printed Around 436900 Pages This is enough to carpet the entire building with a layer of paper (33k SQM) Or Run a role of paper from here to MAT HQ AND BACK as the car drives (141KM Length).
Boredguy Posted April 23, 2025 Posted April 23, 2025 1.8 million pages for about 1000 users, but likely closer to 2 million as we had a glitch on our Rioch mono copier where it wasn't reporting the photocopy jobs back to Papercut until we spotted it in the middle of the year.
