  1. Yeah we are running HikVision setup, with HikCentral as a viewing platform. Linked to AD accounts for SLT access; and combining 4 different NVR's. 140ish cameras, most are a mix of old BNC cameras in a hybrid NVR, and some Dahua ONVIF connected ones. All are slowly being replaced by me to Hikvision POE camera as and when we have funding avaliable.

    WiFi/PoC Radios

We are using https://www.twoway-radio.co.uk/vitaivdg360 these, in digital mode at the moment. we can look at a repeater I guess, but we have just put a new Wifi infra in place so was thinking we could use that tbh. This is why i asked though, my knowledge of these systems is basically non existant, so those i trust you guys who know this stuff

    WiFi/PoC Radios

Hi Guys, Just wondering if anyone is using wifi enabled radios/walkie talkies in their schools? we have a set of 5W business licenced digital radios but they seem to be struggling more and more to get through our buildings and across our site. I have been looking into Wifi enabled radios, but most of these have sim cards too, which might be useful for PE etc who might be outside. Some advertise that they dont need licences (ie. Icom IP100H) whereas some do need a cloud portal and licences (eg Motorola wave family and others) Im curious how other schools do this if you use them at all?
  4. We use Google admin to enforce a logo and disclaimer text, but we let the staff make their own to go above it, which they control from within gmail. In my old job theough, we used a software called Exclaimer; which can link to different cloud mail systems and pull from AD, or someother data source to make them synced between users and devices.
  5. Played a demo last night, and I know it sounds crazy, but the games called "Find the Needle". Literally finding needles in haystacks! Its kinda like Satisfactory, but on a smaller scale, but still has the automation etc. And kinda reminds me of those cookie clicker games I used to play on my phone as a kid. https://store.steampowered.com/app/5160800/Find_The_Needle/
  6. We have found that the easiest way for us, is a memory stick, into a A>C adapter which i can then plug into any android phone and install it from within settings. I can do the local NPS cert and the Smoothwall cert at the same time too so it sppeds up the procces to comparable speeds to the simpler iphone.
  7. Kenable are my go to. Absolutley reliable in terms of stock accuracy and product ranges. They have their own brand of pretty much every cable or adapter so prices are really good. and ive never had a cable fail even after 5 years so far. https://www.kenable.co.uk/
  8. We have this on a few random MPF's. Like the jobs appear on the device screen, press release but nothing comes out. But we have only just moved to Hive this summer so we were thinking its a config thing or somthing we havent gotten around to investigating yet. Same as the other guys though, mqqt2 & 3 ping and trace fine; but mtqqt does not.
  9. Hi All, Bumping this to see if anyone else is having their students do the same thing? They have now discovered that they can see any staff members calendar by using this funcionality too! We have turned off Google Calendar int he meantime but unsure of where to go from here; so any help is really appreciated.
  10. Hi All, Considering setting up UBlock Origin as an enforced extention for staff. Do any of you guys do this already? If so, do you have a way to stop it opening tabs on its own when it updates etc like it does for me at home? I would mostly be aiming for Youtube adverts here, but i guess reducing any adverts by even a small amount is worthwile. Thanks!!
  11. yeah dont mind, would just like to see them reused! DM me
  12. Just pulled 15 (maybe up to 18, need to go and check) Unifi NanoHD's out of a primary school. I know they have been used for many years, and are only Wifi 5, but if anyone wants to expand their stock or existing deployment, let me know. Not allowed to sell them via school, so giving them away here for free to save the WEEE bin getting them. (shipping costs need to be covered though.)
  13. Are you using these in classrooms or like a Hall/Gym etc? They arnt crazy priced and I have a good few ideas if they seem reliable and are compatible with ChromeOS/Chromebooks as well as Windows?
  14. If its in our Google tennancy, its getting backed up!! Staff, Students, Peri's, Service Accounts, Email Groups all of it I havent really looked into it too much, as We are not close to filling the quota we have space wise, so I dont even know if you can be selective or not to be honest. We also back up our servers to it too, to have a cloud copy of the data.
  15. We use Redstor, which once you give it API Access to GOogle, will backup all User data. Drive, Gmail, Contacts, classroom etc. I guess it depends on how many users and or data you have with data retention costs.
  16. Yeah, what supprised me, is even with our 3100's, which were 2020 purchases, they have only 200 Cycles, but they have for sure had more than that. They get flattened at least every other day if not every day, so it should be much higher than that, and the fact that we had 30 all die out in a 10-ish day period, IDK, it doesnt feel natural, but i cant fathom what it could be. If it were an update, surely all of our other 40+ currently working 3100's would be bricked too etc...
  17. Our Trust has gone the Aruba Route, which is great in performance terms, but in licencing costs for Aruba Central (to meet DfE requirements) its outrageous. £25k over 3 years for our one Secondary School. I wish I had pushed harder for Unifi, but they (the trust) still thought it was consumer level equipment and not ready for large scale usage. I didnt have the energy to push it, but really wish i did in hindsight. The money we could have saved would allow me to do so much good... And with Unifi Hosting of Multi Site deployments, we could manage the whole trust from a webpage!!
  18. hi @rob980, have you got it setup on more than just the ipads at the moment? Our trust is moving over from a hybrid Smoothwall setup so would like to know how it is going to compare in your opinion? keyword lists not being editable seems like a really basic fature that should be avaliable so i am unsure why anyone at StudentKeeper would think its a good idea to get rid of it?
  19. Which Chromebooks are you using for your teachers? i would assume a Chromebook Plus of some sort?
  20. Also, incase anyone didnt realise, Alt + V on the Chromebook login window will bring up the asset id. very useful for me when reapplying labels the kids have scraped off. Any sticker we put on gets defaced pretty quick so its not something i really keep up with, as google has all the details for asset registers etc via all the variables: Asset id, SN, model, location etc.
  21. We also use Lock-nCharge cabinets (we have around 20 around our trust schools). They work well, but the baskets that come with them get beaten up/broken quite a lot with day to day use and are VERY expensive to replace. but cant really be beaten for carrying devices around the school, but as above, more suited to secondary schools.
  22. As an update to this, I have just done a full check of all my Dell 3100's, and of 41, I currently have 21 that are having this issue, which seems too many for it to be a random battery issue. As far as i am aware, its only been over the last 2 weeks its been happening, but as a majority of these CB's are stored on the other side of the school, i cant confirm this timeline. Anyone else seeing this happen? @MS97 I think you might have seen this with yours?

    HA HA RAM

surely this isnt sustainable?? like just how much can these compaines pump into buidling new Datacentres and expanding. i'm not sure AI will be this big for so long, i personally expect it to shift to way smaller levels of use in induvidual softwares over time. maybe im not in the know but what are they possibly using all that processing power for?
  24. Normally a powerwash, or at least using that menu does fix a great deal of things. Unfortunatly, it cant help this one as i dont get any indication of power anywhere. Thanks for the help though!
