PotNoodleTech Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Literally 30 seconds to open each page. Makes SIMS Connected look good!
paulkerton Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Is everyone still using ClassCharts after their data protection debacle earlier this year? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cg6dvk1ekkyo I would've binned them straight off.
PotNoodleTech Posted September 17, 2024 Author Posted September 17, 2024 Mee too but that ones above my pay grade.
TechMonkey Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Same here. Made a strong recommendation to abandon it for the new academic year and I was overruled as "teachers like it and there isn't anything else like it", even though it also is poor at integrating with anything. As usual, shiny shiny wins over practicality and use. Oh and I think I have found only 2 teachers that feel it is worth keeping, one of those is the one that did the overruling. 2
WannabrewUK Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Anybody having issues today? I've not been able to get logged into Classcharts at all this morning.
ICT-Joe Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Yes, we are having timeout / 504 Bad Gateway errors here this morning. 1
willtech Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 (edited) Yes been down for us this morning. Support are just joke as well. Edited November 28, 2024 by willtech
PotNoodleTech Posted November 28, 2024 Author Posted November 28, 2024 Yes it's down this morning across our schools too. A variety of timeout errors. Emailed support for all the good it will do. Theymust surely know theire entire system is down across the entire country? :S
Boredguy Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 https://www.saashub.com/class-charts-status#issues reports it's been having issues since before 8am. Our staff were going to have to do "paper" registers, but then they remembered we still have SIMS and can take the register there.... however now dawned on them that cause Class Charts only reports back AM/PM session to SIMS, it will update is someone is marked later for registration but here for lesson 1 as "present" (assuming CC is back up in 15 mins)
coolhands Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 (edited) SIMS Intouch is down so probably an ESS problem in this particular case? Edited November 28, 2024 by coolhands
coolhands Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 SIMS intouch problem confirmed. Don't know if this would affect classcharts KB0056702 Service status - Intouch - The remote server returned an unexpected response: (502) Bad gateway error • 35m ago35 minutes ago • 52 Views28/11/2024 09:37: We are aware of an issue impacting availability of InTouch this morning. Affected sites will see the following error The remote server returned an unexpected response: (502) Bad gateway error when going to Tools| Intouch| Service Setup and clicking test Affected schools will receive an "Unexpected response 502 bad gateway" when testing InTouch services within SIMS, with inbound and outbound messages not processing as expected. screenshot below
CHiLL Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 It's been down all morning for us. SIMS Intouch is down so probably an ESS problem in this particular case? Aren't TES (Class Charts) and The Parent Pay Group (ESS) separate entities?
3s-gtech Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 At least it's a free service. Oh wait Building in resilience is obviously expensive, but so is losing all of your customers because your product can't do the one thing it's there for.
PotNoodleTech Posted November 28, 2024 Author Posted November 28, 2024 I dont trust classcharts with a bargepole since they lied about their data breech. The lower my expectations the less chance of dissapointment!
Dukey89 Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 I can't stand the lack of communication. A simple email or social message acknowledging the issues and assuring us they’re working on it would make all the difference. The silence only adds to the frustration. 1
DaveJ2717uk Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 got this reply to an email this morning, bland as you'd expect but at least it's something We are aware of the issue relating to Class Charts and it is being investigated by our Technical team. We apologise for the inconvenience. Rest assured we are doing all we can to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. 1
broadld Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Same reply that we got from support. Not sure why they don't have a status page or send an email out to let people know. got this reply to an email this morning, bland as you'd expect but at least it's something We are aware of the issue relating to Class Charts and it is being investigated by our Technical team. KSCSIT Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Not having a status page when other TES Products have one (Schoolcloud/roombooking etc) is utterly bizzare. You'd think their service desk team would want one just stop schools calling/emailing every 5 minutes! 1
3s-gtech Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 What does the contract say about recompense for downtime? As in, is it mentioned?
sodslaur Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 It seems very strange that they are not saying what the problem is? We are relatively new to ClassCharts but I think the comms is very poor. They should be sending out updates even if it's "we're working on it" rather than expecting us to contact them and ask.

Agree - When we have an outage we send out emails to stakeholders pretty quickly - Even if it's just a holding email.
36Degrees Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Agree - When we have an outage we send out emails to stakeholders pretty quickly - Even if it's just a holding email. Definitely. For example emailing all staff to let them know ClassCharts isn't working and they will need to use SIMS to take their registers...
Anyer Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 We've not had any communication since they responded to my email just before 9:00am. Oddly though our member of staff who deals with Behaviour and detentions managed to print off our detention lists!
Dukey89 Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 This is the longest I've known them be down since the school has started using them (a good 4 or so years). Must be quite the problem! Still no communication out from them either..... starting to think it might be an attack/compromise. Especially with how they swept the last data breach under the carpet.... 1
