  1. the timetable search is not working, they know about it. You have to go to print timetables and search there (or something, I've not bothered trying). Our redirects are not working so even though when opening timetable in SIMS it should open in Next Gen, it doesn't it just opens in SIMS!
  2. Just to answer my question to help probably me in a few weeks time again, on the sims server I had to stop the 2 wonde services and restart them after a pause. "Wonde comms service" and "Wonde recovery service". So this would actually have been affecting other wonde services too like classcharts etc I believe.
  3. total guess but probably a policy violation and classcharts don't even know it!
  4. we keep having problems, anyone else? It doesn't write back the absences then the cover person here has to add them manually to SIMS, (as they need to cover the lessons!) then when it does eventually sync they will of course be doubled up in SIMS so the person has to manually delete out of SIMS. Obviously going round in circles as they blame SIMS etc continually and suggest we reboot SIMS and or contact WONDE. But our other services are ok like classcharts that write back to sims.
  5. This may not help in anyway but this is the website http://id.sims.co.uk to see if you can log into it and get anywhere? I always find it very bizarre, I have a username which will be eg... [email protected] and password but I think I have to log in using 'google' so you may need to experiment. It's always tricky and whichever one you use it will demand the other
  6. I just did a download and checked against a download from our MIS (SIMS). I found one 'Year 9' in classcharts who went off roll in 2020! And one other 'Year 13' student with a forename and surname, but no UPN, in classcharts but I cannot find the student anywhere in our MIS going right back to 2007, so I don't know who that person is at all.
  7. well just to conclude the thread. It seems it should be in the following: from this thread: discover-dynamic-groups-not-feeding-in-to-sims although mine only has "C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Local\Discover\Discover.Warehouse.Service.log" and "C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Local\Discover\Discover.DataEngine.DataViewMonitor.Service.log" there which are no use (and not today's date). But anyway after 3+ hours amazingly the transfer has 'succeeded'. No idea why it takes so long
  8. I started a manual transfer using the Discover administration utility, and it's taking forever to complete so guessing it's failed. I can't find the log files anywhere, any idea?
  9. Do you know if you now have both Optimise and Engage packages?
  10. Last year we paid in the region of £Xk+vat for all our sims modules. This year Parentpay have invented new packages, and moved modules into more than one so you are forced to purchase different packages to retain the same functionality. So Assessment is within 'Optimise' but Lesson Monitor is within 'Engage'. That's an extra approx £Yk please (total is now over approx £XYk). Obviously almost every school will be using at least those 2 core items. They are an unbelievable company. Can't believe there's not an outcry about this; God knows how they can do this - what are contracts for?
  11. Ours are generally kept in a particular folder on our network (eg our drives). The best method is usually to search a drive or folder for the admission number of one of the students to see where they are - eg type name:119801 (assuming the admission number is 119801) in the search box. If you admissions numbers begin with zero then try one search with and one without eg name:011523 and then name:11523 But sims doesn't store the old ones itself.
  12. The platform has never been great in my experience. However we aren't experiencing write-back problems (we host our own SIMS). Could it be related partially to your MIS? or WONDE assuming you use them as the intermediary. I did once (last term) have WONDE have to remote onto our server and reinstall their widget, as we were having some missed staff absence records (from a different platform, SAM People) due to failing reports. As a user we can't see anything on their widget, and cannot know if any reports are failing. So all I knew was some inputs to SAM People hadn't been carried over to SIMS. When he remoted on he saw something unusual and basically reinstalled the WONDE app and I think we had to input a new key or something. That seems to have sorted the problem, so potentially maybe you should contact WONDE and ask them similar to above (ie ask if there are any failed reports in their logs)
  13. damn I think you're right, searching their f*c4tard contact there is indeed a " " in other words 31 December Love to tell them to stick it
  14. In plain english what is the last date notice can be given to leave the 3 year ESS SIMS contract that runs annually from 1 April? Their 24 pages terms and conditions is impossible to read and I can't find it. I know once they wanted it before end of december of the preceding year, but what is the actual date? Anyone know
  15. Yeah I thought XML Handler was the correct thing to set as default app. That's what I've always done on Windows 10 machines. Just checking if there was any official response. Strangely on one colleagues PC there was no xml handler to choose when going Default Apps>Choose default applications by file type. ie it only presented Notepad, Edge, etc. However quick search just now and it seems choosing Excel (if presented as an option) might either work or force xml handler to become available, so I will test that. AI says: For my future reference, there is an edulink thread here which might have the solution : xml-file-association which was linked to from: xml-handler-for-linked-documents
  16. Does anyone know what is the advice regarding how should PCs be set up to open the Linked Documents (eg assessment reports) in SIMS - they are xml and usually open to view in Word. But on Windows 11 they are all opening in Edge or similar ie gobbledegook. Is there a recommended PC app default that should be chosen? (eg xml handler or similar). But is there an official line on what to do, or how have you set it?
  17. To answer this question, it was nothing to do with the enrolment status - WONDE had stopped syncing properly the Friday before this student was on rolled. After I raised a ticket and a bit of back and forth they had to remote onto our SIMS server and mess around a bit with the WONDE app and services. It is now working and the failed WONDE reports started pulling through, and consequently WONDE apps are populating with this student.
  18. I have a dual reg student where we are the Subsidiary school ie the student is with us for a short period of tie from another school. The student is not showing in any of the WONDE apps eg Seneca, GL Assessment, Vericool, etc. They are not 'Excluded', they are just not there. Are Subsidiary students not imported by WONDE? If not, why not, as clearly dual reg students will still need to access all normal services we provide. WONDE make no reference to Dual reg students in their help pages, so I don't know if that is the cause (everything else about the student in our MIS [SIMS] is fully populated as normal). The student's contacts are showing in WONDE, so I guess the enrolment status is the problem.
  19. thing is you're probably just hammering a customer-services bod who has no authority!
  20. As I've mentioned previously, I think the various support portals by parentpay are awful. I don't expect it will change.
  21. We use 'SAMpeople' a 3rd party company to manage staff absence, it writes back to SIMS. They have given me a patch to install (26835) which is described as 'SAM_licence_patch'. Is it safe to install a patch directly from a company and not received via our SIMS support company? I mean they're digitally signed and all that but I've never had this before.
  22. Interesting as I’ve had one recently that causes sims to crash. I will check it out in more detail tomorrow.
  23. Just to let you or others who search know, our student emails are set as Work, Main=Yes, Primary=Yes and parent email contacts are set as Home, Main=Yes, Primary=Yes (and also Parental Responsibility is ticked and InTouch Communication is ticked) we don't have any problems and do use Intouch as well as WONDE for other platforms.
  24. Mine only hangs if I click in the ‘teachers’ section, from the 3 little bars top right. It never manages to load the page and gets stuck. But it does that on a pc too so is not ipad specific! The main initial page loads ok for me.
  25. I’m admin and can log in on my iPad with no problem? I haven’t any suggestions though, sorry. could it be a pop ups issue ie a setting on the iPad itself? I use safari not chrome. I would at least make sure popups etc are allowed for the classcharts website, I notice it does help on some platforms.
