ZeroHour Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 (edited) I saw this idea on another site and I thought it may be worth seeing what everyone else has and wants to keep or ditch for 2024. Template: 1. Definitely keeping 2. Possibly getting cancelled/occasional renewal 3. Cancelled in 2023 4. New Subscriptions in 2023 ---- 1. Definitely keeping Apple One Amazon Prime Monzo Plus Plex (Lifetime so not a sub as such) Xbox ultimate (get it free with EE) Domain's (several but nearly all through CloudFlare so as cheap a renewal as possible) 2. Possibly getting cancelled/occasional renewal Netflix Emma Pro Gentler Streak Disney+ AA Spotify Discord (on legacy sub) 3. Cancelled in 2023 Amazon Kids+ (it added itself after the year *trial*) 4. New Subscriptions in 2023 Moved to EE x2 (Got a hell of a deal after the person over promised on speed, £13.50 for 125GB x2 with a free perk on each contract unlimited speed for 2 years) Sky Stream (I got a deal where it was cheaper to get Sky TV + Netflix + 900mb BB then just having netflix + 900mb) There will no doubt be others I am forgetting about but thats part of why this thread can be useful. I'm on EE and feel like I'm missing a trick Edited January 10, 2024 by JJonas 1
ZeroHour Posted January 10, 2024 Author Posted January 10, 2024 Zerohour: How are you getting GamePass Ultimate Free with EE? I'm on EE and feel like I'm missing a trick @JJonas You have to have the *tier* that gets a free perk. They have 4 tiers, No Frills (10mb speed limit), Essentials (100mb speed limit), All Rounder (unlimited speed + 1 perk) and Full works (unlimited speed + 3 perks) If you are on All Rounder or Full Works there is a perk which gets you Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and you use the EE app to select that perk and link it to your xbox account. When I signed up for a deal that was £13.50 for 100GB the ad and the person on the phone said multiple times that the contract had no speed limit then when the details arrived a few hours later I was effectively on the Essentials tier so I raised a complaint. They reviewed the call and said he promised no speed limit so they pushed both contracts to All Rounder level (£33 a month approx normally) for the 24 months for the original price along with 125GB instead of 100GB. 1
garethEds Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 (edited) Here's mine: 1. Definitely keeping Prime (the free postage helps with this, the TV aspect is a bonus - will I pay the extra to rid the ads?) Disney+ Netflix Spotify Family Nord VPN 2. Possibly getting cancelled/occasional renewal Apple TV Readly Nationwide Bonus account for insurances etc XBox GamePass (Got it with BT for my Son but he now has a PS5) 3. Cancelled in 2024 Nothing 4. New Subscriptions in 2024 Zwift - re subbing after some time off from triathlon training Training Peaks - re subbing after some time off from triathlon training PS Plus (for my Son's PS5) Edited January 10, 2024 by garethedmondson 1
Roberto Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 (edited) Kept Apple One, O365 family, Disney+, Prime (but won't pay for ad-free), Paramount. Cancelled the Athletic but renewed again when they offered me 12 months for £12 for the year, reading it much less now so not even sure i'd renew at that rate at the moment. Dropped Readly, xbox game pass, the fancy '4k all the salad' Netflix (but found out afterwards that the basic netflix comes with my partner's phone contract as an addin, so we just use that instead.) Reviewed a few things and moved a few around to make sure we got the best value we can without changing what subs we had in total too much in the end. Edited January 11, 2024 by Roberto
Sheridan Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 1. Definitely keeping Netflix ID Mobile - only mobile company I've no bother with and no annual price increases Vodafone broadband, not because they're any good, just the best of a load of crap options in my area! Spotify - mainly for kids to use as I've use my Plex server 2. Possibly getting cancelled/occasional renewal Disney+ - hovering on this as I've become a Modern Family addict so might keep it for a few more months Amazon Prime, although I get the student rate the ads thing is a micky take and I don't find their pricing that competitive British Gas home cover - probably will cancel, engineers can be very hit and miss 3. Cancelled in 2023 Playstation plus - free games were rarely my thing and prefer campaign type of games anyway
FN-GM Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 The only thing we have is Amazon Prime. The money we save by not using the supermarket covers it. I can’t think of any other subscriptions.
