Seeing a 25 min delay on emails too.

Is this the Bromcom SMTP server or your own please?

Darren

I have done the reset myself - it's just the email is not getting through to the users!

Are you using the Bromcom SMTP server or your own schools SMTP please?

Please raise a case online and provide me with the case number to [email protected] and I will take a look for you.

We are also running daily drop-in sessions:

Today's Live Events - Drop - In Sessions (bromcomcloud.com)

Daily Q&A Drop-In Session - All Topics Covered - 9-11am (bromcomcloud.com)

I look forward to assisting you with your queries.

Thanks

Darren

Great Idea!! I'll point my staff towards these from tomorrow morning rather than calling support.

Our own server - but I cannot see these emails in our sent messages... All other emails are sending!

Just tested it myself on dummy data and emails did go out

Don't know what to say Darren, other schools are also saying the same thing - but thanks for testing!

We've still got a few teachers needing password resets, unable to do this as the email doesn't come through.

Nothing in message trace, nothing in quarantine. All other external mail still working

We are new customers to bromcom and it really has been dreadful for us all week.

IT across the Trust are really getting the brunt for it, blaming our network etc. We have over 5 pages of tickets open with bromcom across our schools. I feel sorry for their support. There is clearly a real need for change.. split some load to AWS just anything but stop blaming Azure.

I'll be honest Bromcom performance has been poor recently, seems like one thing after another this past month or so.. blaming a lot of it on Azure which is where their platform is hosted.

However, it's usually good. Don't let this put you off its a good platform.

I'm not a Bromcom user, or currently any other MIS, but I have used a few, including in depth the now deprecated Progresso. Also, my career included software engineering and being software development manager of large scale commercial products. So I understand many of the challenges of building good software. What worries me is Bromcom is highly rated amongst the MIS providers, but the issues raised in the last couple of days do seem to crop up regularly. If AWS is linked to the problem, it still needs resolving as customers only care about the end user experience and not deflected blame.

Advanced Learning/One Advanced hit performance issues in my time working with their software, but they seem to have largely cracked it with 'sharding'. Bromcom obviously have many more schools to deal with, but I think they really needed to get this under control or risk longer term reputational damage. The other big concern I have is seeing functionality that was working, stop working following new releases. As a software development manager, I worked closely with software testing managers. We invested heavily in automated regression testing to prevent updates being released that broke existing functionality. It isn't easy, it is hard work, but really with the size of the top MIS market providers, this should deeply embedded within software release processes.

Its been slow/crap for about 2 years IMHO.

The dynamic scaling doesnt work and they seem reluctant to scale at the obvious schedule (start of term, who would have thought it needs more resources in Sept than August) and at crunch points in the day in order to save unused resources outside of these times.

There is basically a stigma that in our Trust that Bromcom doesnt work in the morning, staff are asked to do paper registers on onboarding days because they know the system doesnt work. People are pining for the reliability of an onsite server and the problems are well known in Bromcom for some time. Blaming azure every time only goes so far and it is only a matter of time before it impacts renewals unless they sort dedicated resources out.

Are the Bromcom issues to blame for why I cannot get one member of staff logged in?

It usually just works :/

His O365 account is functioning fine.

Where would I look on Bromcom to see what could be wrong?

Strangely he's also having issues getting on to E-praise and our Firefly VLE (which pull data from Bromcom for account setup - via Wonde and Wonde have confirmed his details are in their dataset)

I don't suppose anyone else has seen Out of memory errors coming up recently on Bromcom? Mainly with staff who would work in the attendance management page? We've had at least 2 of our year managers report this happening, the common theme is the attendance management page.

The machines are new this Summer and have 16Gb RAM and Ryzen 5 CPU's. Only maybe 3 tabs open in Bromcom but they're getting this multiple times a day. Nobody else in general has been getting this error

Any particular browser or all browsers?

Edge resolved it here... how many kids in a yeargroup / what default options do they use on that page? (More kids+periods it shows at once, the worse it gets... mainly due to the HUGE number of form controls that it creates and then attaches change-listeners to via JS).

Aye - same size as us. We abandoned Chrome for Bromcom use a while back - really doesn’t like any page with lots of controls. Edge is as solid as it gets.

(NB: I really must remember editing posts here in Safari hit’s delete button as soon as you tap in the edit box 🙄)
