  12. Summary of Community Post: Question: A staff member is re-sitting their GCSE Maths and wants to know if they can be added to the Summer exam series with the current Year 11 students. They are unsure if the staff member should be added as an external student, and are concerned about potential conflicts since the school does not accept external students. Replies: User 1 clarified that it is possible to add the staff member to the exam series without registering them as an external student. They suggested checking the school’s internal policies for staff exam entries. User 2 recommended consulting the exams officer or the relevant department to ensure the staff member can be included in the exam series. They also mentioned that schools often have provisions for staff resits, which should prevent any conflicts. User 3 added that typically, staff members cannot sit exams at the school unless there are no other options available, as per the exams officer’s guidelines. This helpful exchange provides practical advice on managing exam entries for staff members, encouraging users to engage with the community for further insights and solutions.
  13. Summary of Community Post: Question: A new user to Bromcom is seeking help for an attendance officer who cannot see the attendance and behaviour tabs on a student’s details page. The user is unsure about the nature of the issue. Replies: A user explained that the issue is related to the menu visible when opening a student record. He suggested that the problem is likely due to permissions, which are crucial for an attendance officer. A Bromcom Champion, provided detailed solutions: Assign the Teacher role alongside the Attendance Officer role. Create a new role with the necessary permissions for attendance and behaviour, and assign it in addition to the Attendance Officer role. Modify the default Attendance Officer role to include the required permissions for attendance and behaviour access. This informative discussion highlights practical solutions for role and permission management in Bromcom, encouraging users to explore the platform further for effective problem-solving.

  15. Summary of Community Post: Timetable in MCAS A community member asked if it’s possible to hide the allocated teacher on the timetable in Bromcom, so that parents can view the timetable without seeing the teacher assigned to each lesson. Timetable in MCAS A helpful community member pointed out that while there are controls in Config > MCAS > Timetable for customising what you see, there isn’t an option to hide the teacher’s name directly. However, they suggested an alternative: you can go to Reports > Curriculum > Timetable and export the timetable document to the DMS. This way, you can hide the teacher’s name or choose to show only the staff code. This practical advice adds another layer of useful information to the discussion, showcasing the community’s resourcefulness and encouraging others to explore these solutions further.
  16. Question: A user is seeking assistance on how to generate a report that details tutor groups, year groups, and gender for each class. They have found the Student Breakdown report but are unsure if gender can be included or if there is another report available that meets their needs. Replies: One helpful reply suggests using the Head Count report found under Reports > Curriculum > Head Count. However, if a more detailed breakdown is required, the user may need to consider creating a custom report. This summary highlights the collaborative nature of the community, where members share useful tips and solutions to help each other navigate reporting tools effectively. 23. Community Post Summary: A user is seeking an efficient way to generate photo registers or lists for cover staff for all classes requiring cover, noting that it is a tedious task for cover managers when there is a lot of cover to arrange. Replies: Practical Advice: A Bromcom Champion and Data Officer, provided practical advice on managing this task. She suggested that if student photos with names are printed, there should be a foolproof system for collecting them back from supply teachers and shredding them afterwards. She also questioned whether registers are being taken in Bromcom, as student photos would be visible there. Alternative Solution: For those who only need a list without photos, Kirstie recommended clicking the document icon on the Arrange Cover page in Bromcom. This action creates a list for every class covered that day, although it is in alphabetical order and does not include the cover teacher assigned. She noted that the lists would need to be printed and then separated into piles for each supply or cover teacher. 24. Community Post Summary: A user is seeking assistance with generating a report that includes basic details of a detention and the reason behind it. They can view this information by clicking the (i) symbol in the detention panel, but it does not appear when they try to write a report using the detention domain. They are considering whether a cross-domain report is needed but are finding the instructions challenging. Replies: Helpful Guidance: Several community members provided step-by-step instructions on how to create a cross-domain report, highlighting the necessary fields and settings to include the event information. Clarification and Tips: Some users clarified the differences between single-domain and cross-domain reports, offering tips on how to navigate the reporting tool more effectively. Encouragement and Support: The community showed support and encouragement, sharing their own experiences and reassuring the original poster that they are on the right track. This positive and informative discussion encourages others to join the forum to learn more and seek help with similar issues. Additional Insight: A user clarified that detentions and events are different items that can be created simultaneously but are not necessarily linked. Deleting one does not remove the other. They suggested an easy way to see the event associated with a detention is to go to Modules > Behaviour > Detention Review and click on the (i) icon to view details about the behaviour event. This positive and informative discussion encourages others to join the forum to learn more and seek help with similar issues.
