colly72 Posted March 9, 2022 Posted March 9, 2022 We had loads of issues with supply of Xerox through Arena in the run up to and just after Christmas but been OK since the middle of Jan. Scratch that, Arena are now having issues obtaining Xerox toner again for our larger C8170 copiers. Very little in the way of proactive management from them, we had to contact them when toner didn't arrive, for them to admit there are supply issues.
jemal Posted March 9, 2022 Posted March 9, 2022 For us we have various Kyocera printers, it's the TaskAlfa 8000 and 9000 series that are very problematic and have been out of order due to toner for the vast majority of the last few weeks. All the smaller machines (ecosys/4000/6000 series) have been fine so far. We've been told it's because it's the larger ones suffering from the global computer chip shortage in their toner cartridges. The trajectory of how frequent the toner issues have been seem to be getting worse and worse so expecting this to be a long while still. Our reprographics team who need the external finishing options on the large MFDs can use up these massive toners in a day or 2, so when it does eventually come in, we'll be out again soon after. Same feedback as 'colly72' above, we're the ones chasing this up because we're not getting supplies in without any prior warning, just piecing together different explanations on the issue when we bring it up ourselves, and one had comments that the problem is our doing because a printer that's already been out of toner for several days has then been powered off at the wall, albeit the last couple of weeks has been more consistent with apologies etc. At least there's probably a few trees out there having some longer life than expected (providing they aren't re-assigned for the global cardboard shortage).
PrimaryNetMan Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Well look like Kyocera have some more toner shortages. Now have 3 copiers (6053s) that all require mono toner and Kyocera are currently saying no stock available until 22/3 at the earliest!
Oaktech Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Interesting, I've just had a conversation with our 3rd party support and asked about the levels at which our printers request new toners... Our one and only colour printer (for teacher use) was set to 30% and somehow the teachers managed to suck the Cyan and Magenta dry from +30% to 0% in an afternoon (big push on refreshing the display boards last week)... anyway this means that by the time the order is processed and delivered, the printer is out of use for a day. We really need a 'spare' set of toners for such emergencies and I thought I'd be clever and refill it overnight with 'empties' in the hope that it would recognise all the toner cartridges as being on 0% and automatically order a full set... for some reason it doesn't even register I've put the toners in, let alone them being empty (I guess the chip has registered it has been used (?). In fact, to make matters worse, I did a few test prints to try and get it to understand the situation, but they all printed out fine... We have a Kyocers TASKalfa 5002i that's at the point it should have a toner ordered, so I'll be asking admin to keep an eye on deliveries to reception for the next couple of days... Ours are direct with Canon and request at 15% for black and 5% for colour. We've repeatedly been refused buffer stock. If we put an 'empty' back in it just sits at empty and it doesn't order anything - probably because it's not got a chip in it to do so.
PrimaryNetMan Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Same issue here, ours are set to 20% before they order home and most times they have been drained before the replacement arrives. And echo the issues with keeping buffer stock. A while back we had a couple of spare sets to cover 5 copiers in case of delays and an engineer took the lot back!
Jawloms Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 AltoDigital supplying Xerox machines here. No black toners available for our three big, main devices. C8170.
Syman_a Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Our konica BizHubs are auto requesting, and being delivered within 24-48 hrs for all toners.
Jawloms Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 Still no sign of any Xerox black toners here. Same here, although we were told they would be in stock today, so I'd assume they would arrive with us tomorrow. We'll see....... 1
colly72 Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 Still no sign of any Xerox black toners here. We've been informed this morning by Arena that black toners for our Xerox copiers are due in to them today and will be delivered to us by Thursday/Friday this week at the latest. 1
jemal Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 We had some black Kyocera toners arrive last week for our 8000 and 9000 series printers. We're not sure how timely the next refill's will be though, fingers crossed it'll start improving now, but I don't have any knowledge either way if we're still expecting long delays with our toner supplies for our larger printers.
Buzzer90 Posted March 22, 2022 Posted March 22, 2022 Thankfully had a couple of black toners delivered this morning, still missing a couple more. Could do with a stash of them for the next time it happens....
simonw Posted March 22, 2022 Posted March 22, 2022 Struggling to get Konica toners again We've been waiting a week for Black toner, with Konica unable to give an estimated delivery date.
steveg Posted March 22, 2022 Posted March 22, 2022 We've been waiting a week for Black toner, with Konica unable to give an estimated delivery date. I now have to ring up and log a job with them. They pass it to remote toner team who can't do anything, so pass it to service manager. They then authroise an engineer to come to site with a toner and fit it for us. I've had 1 done like this so far, 2 other printers out of action waiting for a visit and 1 about to run out. Not exactly quick or efficient.
Asgard Posted March 28, 2022 Posted March 28, 2022 Konica Minolta production print kit ; Pro 1100 and C3700 machines we have no toner for and can’t source them from commercial suppliers. The deafening silence from Konica on this is beyond shocking
CHiLL Posted March 29, 2022 Posted March 29, 2022 We're with AltoDigital (now Xerox) and are consistently having issues getting parts, consumables and even engineer service for our Xerox printers. The most annoying thing is that we aren't being told about shortages until we have to enquire. They have monitoring/order triggering software installed on the print server to automatically order toners when they get low. But since they have no stock, we aren't receiving anyting and have to chase them when it eventually runs out and stops working. I just wish they'd send an email or something when it's triggered that they have no stock and what their ETA is.
jemal Posted March 29, 2022 Posted March 29, 2022 Just wondering if there's anyone on any leased MFD setup who's actually had proactive response from their supplier where they told customers of the toner shortage at the start or keep customers informed of any stock delay without having to be chased up first? Delays with the national shortage of some types of toner cartridges I can forgive, but it seems if there's any leasing provider who's actually been treating their customers well through this, they deserve a shout-out as so far it seems they're all as bad as each other.
AlanThePrinterGuy Posted May 16, 2022 Posted May 16, 2022 Hi. We have no supply chain issues with hardware, toners, consumables or parts for the entire Toshiba range. Please get in touch with me if you need help with any Toshiba Hardware or toners etc. Thanks.
Wubbalubbadub Posted May 16, 2022 Posted May 16, 2022 Still having issues with Kyocera. We are slowly moving over to Canon and they are not having any issues.
Oaktech Posted May 17, 2022 Posted May 17, 2022 Just wondering if there's anyone on any leased MFD setup who's actually had proactive response from their supplier where they told customers of the toner shortage at the start or keep customers informed of any stock delay without having to be chased up first? Delays with the national shortage of some types of toner cartridges I can forgive, but it seems if there's any leasing provider who's actually been treating their customers well through this, they deserve a shout-out as so far it seems they're all as bad as each other. We got an email from Canon to let us know the situation and how to bypass the non-genuine cartridge prompt. We're still getting cartridges through without chips, but they're probably only 1 in 3 or 4 now.
Danp Posted May 17, 2022 Posted May 17, 2022 We only have 2 Ricoh copiers and toners have been fine. Account manager told me recently they are working on 7 month lead time for some devices though!
jahbulon Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Konica printers here. We noticed few months back that the auto orders for toners weren't coming out - one of the support engineers told us, from now on, we have to ring them to get a toner. Recent weeks, that has changed and they are coming out. However - a support lead told us yesterday, the issue isn't toners. That is only a mess because of that fire they had in one of their toner factories in Japan back in August. The real issue coming is with the drums - they come from China. They haven't been receiving these and currently only have 2000 in stock. They normally go through 1000 a month. 1
simonw Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 I chased Konica for a toner that we have been waiting for since March. Got a response that it 'wasn't on the report, so in theory is on its way'. I'm now waiting a response as I asked them to confirm despatch and eta. I'm not interested in any 'theory' or 'probably', I just want the facts.
Oaktech Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Canon direct here... I'm no longer experiencing issues with toners, but there has been a noticeable delay in ordering service parts like drums and dev units to the service engineers. It used to be that as long as the engineer put an order in before 2pm he'd have it next day before midday, we're now looking at minimum 48hrs for standard service items like drums & transfer belts and up to a week for more obscure items like motors, dev units and plastics.
