  1. Konica printers here. We noticed few months back that the auto orders for toners weren't coming out - one of the support engineers told us, from now on, we have to ring them to get a toner. Recent weeks, that has changed and they are coming out. However - a support lead told us yesterday, the issue isn't toners. That is only a mess because of that fire they had in one of their toner factories in Japan back in August. The real issue coming is with the drums - they come from China. They haven't been receiving these and currently only have 2000 in stock. They normally go through 1000 a month.
  2. I would say go with Shure microphones. If they want wireless hand mics, check out the GLX-D range. For handless, it would be the BLX Presenter range. IMO no point going cheap with microphones. The above aren't the most expensive, it gets much worse than these lol We have these, and the quality is great. Advisable to stay with known brands with audio gear, there are lots of quality out there. Less to worry about with mixers. With audio production you'll only be as good as the weakest link e.g. you can have great gear but if you buy low quality leads - it will sound like shit. Cheers.
  3. Yeah, that is such a key requirement for teaching staff. We're hoping to do the same if we need to. That is a very nice TV! Not sure if we're able to do the same but thanks for feedback
  4. Hello all Just had a mac server setup with Profile Manager installed- we're using it to manage a suite of macs. Currently having issues sending email invites to users so they can download some VPP apps. The invites currently don't arrive, I've read the SMTP logs and I can see that the issue is related to LGFL needing to configure a relay for us. The issue I'm having is that the address that Profile Manager is using is '[email protected]'. How or where can I change the domain of this sender address? Atomwide want me to give them an address to use but I can't figure out how to set this for Profile Manager. Any guidance is very much appreciated! Thanks - Rory.
  5. Minor Update: We had some additional Frog Champion training last week and our trainer, although he couldn't help us, said that he had last been told there was a new version of FrogLive coming out very soon. Interestingly, he also said that the development team don't seem to fully appreciate how frustrated the customers are over this, despite consultants like himself regularly bringing it to their attention. I suppose they might have bigger fish to fry, so to speak. If so, take the damn product out of service then because during our evaluation of whether to purchase Frog or not, FrogLive was lauded as quite a unique and impressive feature- our teaching staff member Frog co-ordinator was very excited about using it.
  6. Hi all In case anyone was wondering, Frog support haven't got back to us with anything. Quite odd considering they've never taken this long to give a response to our other requests! Regards, Rory.
  7. Hi everyone Many thanks for the suggestions and the general FrogLive information. Support still hasn't responded yet, ominous considering how quickly they have with other more seemingly complex issues. I'll try a few more things out but for the teacher responsible for FROG co-ordination, this will be a major disappointment as this was something she was very keen on using from the start. Certainly not the first disappoinment we've had with this VLE, although the pupils are giving positive feedback on their user end, the backend etc isn't much better or in some aspects worse than other VLEs [itslearning, Fronter etc]. On another note, is anyone aware of an active and useful Frog community/forum anywhere on the web? The official Frog community/knowledgebase portal is absurdly lacking in any real help or 'community'! Many thanks, R.
  8. Hello all Just got Frog setup over the summer, things are running well, we have just recently started experimenting with FrogLive but have hit upon an issue. Everything except for the uploading process is working, I have attached a pic of the error we get. Basically, after you make some changes to a document then save it, the upload window flutters at the beginning of its progress bar, then the error pops up. Afterwards, if you open the document, the changes are there. However, if you relogin to the PC and reopen the document, the changes are no longer present. We have been testing it on Windows 7 Pro SP1 with the latest updates, using Internet Explorer 9. Java and flash etc. are uptodate if it matters. I've contacted the helpdesk but from past experiences I'm not overly confidant in much useful help. Anyone else experience this? Many thanks, Rory.
  9. Very smart approach here- I like it!
  10. Well, when wireless has come up we state the costs involved to work well (i.e. any classroom in the school to comfortably handle 20-30 laptops at once) and the health warnings that are widely available across the web (most of the worries are the signs of negative effects on younger children in increasing studies, their fragile little skulls!). Our Head Teacher isn't particularly interested in technology so the only serious pushing for wireless is from a few minor teachers. Personally, health and costs aside- we (i.e. myself and my line manager) just aren't that interested in the mobile learning 'benefits' that are claimed. I've seen and read some very good examples of great uses but to me it is like an icing on a cake and I'd rather myriad other services before a wireless network. Peace.
  11. We're not interested in BOYT because of the prevalent hand holding we do- that would go into overdrive here unfortunately. Mostly looking into virtualising, very slowly! No wireless here, weary of future health implications, especially for the younger pupils and could not afford the infrastructure upgrade that would be required anyway. Does anyone know of an example of a school that has converted to Academy and actually has had noticeably more money freed up? I haven't heard of any unfortunately. We don't even have the funds to regularly replace are failing PCs atm, looking into using Vmware view in a few rooms- long term! Very little mobile devices here, cannot afford and also currently phasing out the staff laptops i.e. replacements aren't being bought. Sorry, quite dismal! We already run our own email [for staff only], website, vpn etc
  12. Sorry? Wasn't there last night.
  13. Found this last night, a complete list of the schools being stopped. Enjoy! 05_07_2010_schoolbuilding.pdf
  14. BSF has died! Everything except for one school has been stopped in Kingston. Only those schools at financial close or on the verge of starting building work will be allowed to finish [400-700 approx]. Very disheartening for schools like our own that was at the stage that the contract was out for bidding. For a country riddled with debt, effectively bankrupt, it was a lunatic project.
