Oaktech Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 They're blaming 'IT', but I'm told by an acquaintance who works for PespiCo that the problematic IT upgrade is actually a warehouse automation project that ran long and had issues that prevented goods in and out and production had to be scaled back to accomodate reduced warehouse throughput. Sounds like a facilities issue to me...

We had something similar when I worked in logistics. New firm came in and decided we were going all 21st century with a WMS (previously stock was ordered/picked/packed/checked/delivered with pen and paper - god how I miss those days). We got scanner guns, a new network infrastructure and a big back end system... took ages to implement and cost mega bucks to change everything in the warehouse. It all ground to a halt on the first day, it was absolute chaos and everybody got sent home after standing round for hours doing nothing... there were issues that never really got sorted and the whole thing made my life a misery!

MatthewL Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 Didn't know about this, went into Tesco tonight and shelves were empty, said to the lass is there a shortage and got a deadly serious reply back saying yes Walkers have an issue. Thought she was talking rubbish but now IT are getting the blame of for it!! Only wanted some for my pack up whilst I'm out this weekend!!
