We were given Dell Lattitude 3190 laptops

Has anyone else had these and had issues with finding out the bios password?

All the other passwords have worked from the DFE website but the Dell's dont.

I have tried contacting DFE but no response.

Can anyone PM me the bios password?

Thanks

Yes we have them.

You will need to get in touch with the person that ordered them for your school, in our case it was the finance officer and they will have a login to the portal to obtain the passwords for the bios.

Pretty straight forward really they end up creating you an account and that's it.

I have the login to the DFE website, the wrong password is in there for the Dell's as stated. Contacted DFE weekly for the last month or so and no response.

Its all been resolved now as Edugeek members have PM'd me the correct bios password. :)

Really? We've found them really responsive and have redeployed them on-site as fully domain-built laptops for students and LSAs. We got a mix of 60/120GB SSD models, perhaps others got different.

We have the same setup. Used SCCM to reimage them, onto the domain and being used around the school.

The 64GB models we got were MMC storage and painfully slow. Sounds like you got lucky.

Yes they are the ones we got. Barely usable for students to type up some work.

This is why I'm looking at turning them into Chromebooks to try and speed them up a little.

Would that be using Neverware? May have to look at doing this myself.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but could someone please PM the BIOS key for the Dell 3190 DfE laptops? The one I have starting awz5q does not work.

Thanks,

Kevin

Been trying to rebuild the 3910s we have and it just doesn't recognise any of the three different USB->Ethernet dongles I've tried!

If you want a guarantee network adapter to work you need to enable the network stack in the BIOS/UEFI And use the official Dell USB 3 network adapter. “Dell Adapter - USB 3.0 to Ethernet PXE Boot” although if you can find another USB3 network adapter that uses the same chipset as the Dell one this will also be recognised in the BIOS/UEFI as PXE bootable. Different laptop manufacturers have different USB network chipset drivers built into there UEFI. So it’s just a question of finding the correct one that already has the UEFI network driver in the BIOS. Or just give in and by the official DELL one. Edited by MicrodigitUK
