Hi I set the trial up this morning to have a look and after browser permissions and assigning the license to the user all seemed to work I know it might be a shot in the dark but have you checked this?

Hi we at present have a Lessonbox system that we use and some of the Staff use their IPADS ,there have been some questions raised about the quality using IPADS. Using the lesson box we manually clip each presentation which is time consuming and just wondered what everyone is else using and does it work for you? Anyone willing to share please? Embazzy

Hi, I don't post very often as I can usually find an answer to my question within the wealth of information already here. I am looking for a way to produce usage reports on our SLG of our newly(newish) hosted SLG, we cannot use the reporting in SLG as it is not available to us ,but I would like to be able to view some statistics regarding certain pages within SLG. I have been told that Google analytics may be the answer but am struggling to find further information. Is anyone else facing the same problem or have managed to overcome it and would care to share their knowledge I would be most appreciative thanks in advance Embazzy

Hi all, quick question , I was wondering how you all deal with right click in Windows 7 previously we used XP but now on Windows 7 (with new policies), we had disabled right click but now we need to allow it for our students to create new folders in their home drives , does anyone use a program to trim the context menus or what do you do to deal with this? any help with this would be greatly appreciated Embazzy

You could always try to get a pre 6.4 install and then do a Group Policy install with that , when all is setup run the 6.4.3 setup on the control machine and update the clients by client maintenance. i know it is a bit of a mess around but it saves individaul installs Embazzy

Hi and thanks for your replies we originally set a connect up to h: in the AD then in the script we had net use h: /home, i was advised to either use the script or the (AD)connect , i now have started on some users to use the %username% variable which works for all our curriculum users,the problems seem to affect our admin users more . Our support contractors are investigating more this afternoon remotely and i am hoping someone is coming in tomorrow to delve a bit deeper,i shall let you know hopefully what the problem was/is Embazzy

Hi all i am having a problem with a new 2008 server we had installed and setup a month ago i will try to give as much information as i can but if i have left anything out please feel free to point it out to me. The server is a quad core xeon with 4gb RAM 2*250gb sata mirrored os partition,and 4*1TB SAS drives setup as a 2.75 ish Raid 5 system we have moved all our users folders curriculum and admin ( we have 2 domains on the same network segment)2 1gb NICS teamed .The server is setup as a file server the other servers are all 2003 machines split with various roles we do plan to flatten the network over the summer but previous to this our only real issue was space and the logical thing to do was to buy a big file server with the facility to extend storage over the summer. Now the problem we have is that some mappings(done via batch scripts,permissions checked and fine) to the shares are not connecting (eg if i set a map to \\server\shared\maths it connects to \\server\ shared) and AD queries to add user permissions to indivdual folders are painfully slow,if i add permissions via another server the ad queries are instant though eg from another server just unc to the main share and then right click add. I hope this makes sense,i had a support guy look at it today and he mentioned that ipv6 was setup and this could cause unnecessary networjk traffic ,this has been disabled now and i have logged in to reboot the server and tried the ad queriy again and it is as bad still,does anyone have any suggestions,ideas,requests for more info. I told my boss that this server would be a big help and centralising storage was a bonus for me also but this is causing real headaches and staff are giving me hassles about it ( i cant say i blame them to be honest) If i have left out any information thats glaringly obvious then please let me know Embazzy

We have for a long time just created a Daily Bulletin and attached it by title to the main home page(using the add new school bulletin)and it has always worked now some staff do not see the newly attached bulletins even after a reboot and relogging into SIMS it has to be something to do with the update and some permissions change of some kind Embazzy

Hi i was just in the process of posting this as an issue to us we have exactly the same problem but it it doesnt affect everybody it must be a permissions thing i did speak to Capita about and it has been raised as an issue apparently to severity 3 ,hopefully that means it will get sorted soon. We really rely on it and it has caused us lots of problems. If you do get it fixed or manage to fix it would you be kind enough to let us know as i will pass on to you cheers Embazzy

Hi we are having a strange problem with Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 (XP Pro Clients) and a HP 2025n matching print colours , i have spoken to HP who couldnt shed any light on the problem(as other applications seem to print ok) ,our graphics users are sending work through to print and the printer colour doesnt match the screen colour,maybe i am missing something glaringly obvious. Has anyone else had this problem and managed to correct it at the moment we are redirecting their course work through to one of our Canon big colour copiers and all seems ok. Most of the time it seems to be colour density and shades lighter /darker (some purple appears as blue)etc but its causing alot of problems as coursework needs to be printed and we have only just bought this printer. any help as always is greatly appreciated Embazzy

Hi as a follow up to this we use a program on our file server called Spaceguard that does folder restrictions by extension and also sets folder size limits from what i can remember it was quite reasonably priced very simple to setup and does what it says on the tin we got it from PNL tools just google them Embazzy

Hi,i am sure someone here can help me, i need to change the offline settings on a couple of hundred folders. I don't want to do this manually (tedious) But i did find a command line but couldnt get it to work,can someone give me a helping hand or an example so that i can make these changes by running a batch file. Thanks for the replies so far i am just investigating what is possible a couple of teachers eg Geography and History have asked the question and we are trying to justify its use,me personally i dont see the need for it we have Whiteboards in every class and it has never been mentioned before we are maybe looking at Freesat also. My theory is that it hasnt been asked for before and im sure a few would just say yes and never use it, as before whenever a teacher makes a request for something it is always taken and investigated yet when i ask for a course i usually get an instant answer

Hi i wanted to ask the question to Network managers regarding there provision of television to their schools. Do you provide it? (through a third party obviously) If so do you use analog have you thought about Digital? Does anyone subscribe to Sky and does it cost a fortune ? We are just looking at maybe implementing a multi point system but am interested in what peopls provision is at the moment any help / advice would be greatly appreciated cheers Embazzy

There isnt really alot that can go wrong with the konica printers if all your toners are ok you can check the drum unit as far as i know they can be refused and after a couple of refuses the quality can become really bad.

Sorry i should have made it a bit clearer i used the sharefolder.vbs file to setup shares within a folder but i want them hidden but i have checked through the vbs files and don't know where to place the $ Embazzy
