"LEGEND HAS IT: If 13 people sit down to dinner together, all will die within the year. The Turks so disliked the number 13 that it was practically expunged from their vocabulary (Brewer, 1894). Many cities do not have a 13th Street or a 13th Avenue. Many buildings don't have a 13th floor. If you have 13 letters in your name, you will have the devil's luck (Jack the Ripper, Charles Manson, Jeffrey Dahmer, Theodore Bundy and Albert De Salvo all have 13 letters in their names). There are 13 witches in a coven."

Call me daft - [ some do ], but when building server farms in the past I have always missed '13' out and go straight to 14.

Also in our main 2 computer rooms there is no number '13' computer...

We've never had any issues with machines named 13... one of our IT suites is room number 13...

... until now? Dun-dunn-duunnnnn

I came in this morning to an IT suite with keybords and mice 'mysteriously' moved to other computers.

Also some &*%@ had stuck labels on three of the monitors saying "do not use" and lets just say they didn't come off in one fluid movement.

You can include "capita sims.net" in that list i am using a bit of poetic licence as i'm not counting the "." as it's not a letter

Yay! Looks like I'm going to have a good day - ink kit, the domain controller I've just priced up turned out half of what we expected, it's nice and sunny outside... Hmm, maybe too sunny - is the sun going nova?...

Ooo I just counted my name... I've got 13 letters :'( I'm dooooomed!

Most people call me Rich... so I might get away with it... Or I might just include my middlename from now on!

It's quite funny how these superstitions come about (thats just reminded me! I'm meant to be buying my mum and dad some stevie wonder tickets today!)

Spoke too soon about having troubles, our admin machines in the office just had a right old paddy, couldn't open any office documents from but could open word and excel program from the start menu or desktop shortcuts then do a file open(which is a PITA). Luckily it managed to fix it just doing a "repair office" install but it did worry me for a moment

Our firealarm decided to trigger just at lunch. Was great considering they couldnt get it to switch off again! I've never seen so many staff looking cold and unhappy!!

Apart from that, nothing else went wrong, in fact I actually got some work done today :D

We were testing the UPS' and the one that powers the powerchute server went dead straight away so had to abandon testing.

I suppose that's the point of testing...to see if anything fails so it's a good thing really.

the fibre module on one of our hp switches decided to die on friday, taking out a 3rd of the network, where the student services office and everything is luckily got it back running with a couple of media convetors, and a nice 190 quid to replace the module

Well it was a great day today! The suite of machines I'd left pulling software off the server died (breaker went) and we had a power outage some other places too.

When I went into said suite I picked up the air con remote...pointed it at the unit...pushed a button and the remote died and hasn't worked since...one of the site management team has it.

Our new HP Officejet will only print paper jams. But aside form that it was a good day.
