Have you gotten rid of IE11 yet?

We just had email from Google saying that Google services will soon stop supporting ie11.

 

This got me thinking of when is best to remove it...... was thinking applocker rather than removing to be honest.

 

So...... have you remove it yet?

Nope. Banking software still demands it due to a plugin they will not update.

Can't remove it as a lot of apps still rely on it. I believe Visual Studio still uses it for auth, as it borks when IE is removed via Programs and Features.

Same reason i've not removed it yet. Finance!

Not yet, but once we've deployed new Edge successfully I'll look at disabling it. Our CCTV system relies on an ActiveX plugin, but thankfully that still works in IE mode in new Edge. Hopefully there's nothing left here that will require standalone IE.

HIKVision? They provide a program so that you can view cameras/recordings without IE. Ours came on a CD with the NVRs.

We hide it for staff who don’t need it, 95% of staff do not need it , the staff that do need it have an ie shortcut on the desktop and are advised to only use it if they need to

No, haven't got rid of it but certainly not putting it on display either. Any online site today that requires Internet Explorer is ridiculous, and should be avoided is possible. Systems with ActiveX controls should be moved away from as well if possible. IE has had a long run, but it's time for it to be retired now with most websites designed for modern browsers.

We completely removed it over the summer as part of our task sequences calling a power shell script to remove it.

 

All devices have Chromium Edge and Google Chrome available on them.

 

We’ve had no issues at all and it’s resolved lots of issues for those users who use to use it.

 

Particularly on those site which no longer supported it.

We hid the shortcut (redirected start menu), and set the default browser to Edge, Chrome is also available. If there is a website that will only run in IE then that gets a shortcut that calls IE to run it.
