  1. We use I Am Compliant here, it seems to work well. We had Every 5+ years ago and it was terrible eddyc
  2. Hello everyone, I hope you are well and looking forward to the Christmas Break. I have noticed something random on our SOLUS3 installation and I was hoping you may be able to help but if not, I will contact ESS. I did the Autumn upgrade last week and I noticed that the time of deployment that the "SIMS File Server" reports a version of 0.0.0.0 and that it is not up to date, but it remains at that version post upgrade. The SOLUS3 manual says to point this at our SIMS File Server directory (local path) on our SIMS server. Our share is \\SERVERNAME\SIMSDATA$ which is a share of D:\SIMSDATA\ but putting D:\SIMSDATA does not resolve that issue nor does pointing it to D:\SIMSDATA\SIMS either. Is anyone else experiencing this or there a config issue here? I would be interested to hear what others have set under Environement > Targets > SIMS File Server > Installation path Many thanks! eddyc
  3. Just curious about how you deploy mapped drives and printers away from GPO if you don’t mind sharing? eddyc
  4. Hello, Salamander usually set up scheduled tasks to run overnight, at least that’s what they did on our server. Their support are usually very good at assisting with any changes or issues. eddyc
  5. This is my understanding too. I went to the ESS stand at the Schools and Academies show last Wednesday who said "what deadlock issue" and then demonstrated "Next Gen" which had lots of features available and said they are already on and for all schools. My shock (lol) when I opened Next Gen the next day to find that the features are all still in Beta and not released to all schools at all. eddyc
  6. Apologies, @JATSO - I have just pulled out the SMART case in my emails and ours was the MX065-V1 and not the MX065-V2-C so I don't think our recovery instructions or firmware will help you, sorry. eddyc
  7. This isn’t the latest generation of boards, we are on V[emoji639] now which haven’t had these issues and the software seems much quicker and more responsive. eddyc
  8. I believe this is the same model that we have in one building and that there is a software update which corrupts the boot loader on the screens. SMART offered an RMA (4-6 week turn around) 🤦♂️ Or alternatively provided files and instructions to do the recovery yourself via serial interface using putty. I’m only on my mobile now but I’ll try to find the guide in the morning for you. eddyc
  9. We’ve used Netsweeper for many years via our LEA. There is a Chrome store extension for Chromebooks to tie the filtering back to the user and their access levels to match windows. I believe the same exists for iPads but we’ve not got that yet. We currently use the captive portal from Netsweeper on our iPad subnet. Hope this helps eddyc
  10. We do have Salamader for AD account creation. They are staff only - not parents - it is most strange. eddyc
  11. We’ve not seen this with rooming but with personnel we’ve change a staff members personal mobile number and email and it keeps reverting despite showing as saved and being correct when checked by colleagues later in the day. With this one is like something overnight is flipping it back again. It’s so strange eddyc
  12. I would be lying if I said I was shocked! I bet soon the official ESS line will be to use Next Gen and not to use SIMS7.... lol eddyc
  13. Same here. It is an absolute nightmare and the slow response on ESS part is a joke. I did get excited yesterday when I had a SOLUS3 upgrade notification for: Update 'Patch 24004 [3.62.951-3.62.951] PRB18134 - When user runs Formative Attainment report from Programmes Of Study SIMS crash will occur. This patch resolves the issue.' has just arrived in the database. When I went to apply it though, there was no trace of it anywhere. Does anyone else have this patch on their SOLUS3 or have they withdrawn it already?! eddyc
  14. Further to the original patch, Monday [emoji637][emoji640]th ESS sent us a “testing” patch to try and resolve the deadlock issues and general poor performance. The patch made no difference to anything.
  15. Sorry to drag up an old post but in addition to my thanks, I wanted to thank you via message! I have been banging my head against a brick wall for ages trying to achieve this and now all of our internal sites are using SSL. Thanks!
  16. They seem to have had a few similar issues the end of last term and the start of this one. We have had the same issue during the first week of term too.
  17. Hi everyone, I work with @KieranL and we've made a bit of a development with this issue. To correct what my colleague has previously said; we use a super mandatory profile for students and not a roaming profile. We have found that if we go via Chrome or Edge from the Construct3 website to Computer > N:\ > Select the Construct file - it works as intended. If we go however directly from the home folder, which is the default (without adding the additional steps of going via Computer > N:\) then the error about system files comes up and the file refuses to upload. All users have their own homefolder which is a share in its own right - this takes the form of \\fileserver\username$ I believe that we have now also identified that if we unhide a users share \\fileshare\username then the file will also upload from the root of the homefolder without the error about system files too. We therefore presume that it is either the dollar in the path or the fact that the share is hidden on the network. Strange how it works via the N:\ drive route though. For those of you who have this working via both routes, how are you home folders configured for users, please? Thanks eddyc
  18. It does appear to be on general release, actually! FIXES: 1. BUG: There were WAgent 4.2.17.17 installation failures on M1 chipset MacOS Big Sur clients. 2. BUG: The Windows Workstation Agent Service Mode did not reliably restart the system tray icon once stopped for a user. This could happen if the system tray icon was terminated by the user, or the user canceled a sign out of Windows and did not fully complete the sign out process. 3. BUG: The new Workstation Agent Service did not reliably start the system tray icon once stopped for a user. This could happen is the system tray icon was hard killed or the user blocked a sign out of Windows and did not fully complete the sign out process. https://helpdesk.netsweeper.com/docs/Flare/Netsweeper_Documentation/Content/Release_Notes/WAGENT_Release_Notes/WAgent_4_5_and_4_6_Release_and_Downloads.htm
  19. We’ve had Netsweeper for a while now via our LEA and run the service version of the Wagnet. We’ve had ongoing issues where random devices forget who is logged in mid session. We managed to replicate this issue by logging out a PC whilst SIMS or an unsaved word document was open (or any other application for that matter). Once the force log off screen comes up, I’d you cancel that and return to your desktop the wagent was no longer in the notification area but if you look the service is still running. It’s at this point it breaks and you get default web filtering and the only fix to date has been to either restart the PC (for an end user) or to get IT to restart the service remotely on their device for them which would reinstate the correct filtering level. After several months of working with Netsweeper and our LEA/ISP they’ve released an update Wagent MSI and touch wood the issue seems to have gone away (for us at least). We’ve only had the new MSI for a day but everything we could historically do to break it no longer works and complaints from staff about YouTube etc being filtered have tailed off. I hope this helps. May be worth asking Netsweeper or your ISP for a later version of the Wagent. I’m not sure if ours is general release but can get the version number if it may help some of you. eddyc
  20. eddyc

    WSUS

I also recently did this and jumped to Server 2022 in the process. Dare I say it, the server actually seems to respond in a timely manner.
  21. We use the NetSupport suite. It’s really flexible and really powerful
  22. I was seeing this exact behaviour and it was relating to SOLUS3 being stuck between the Capita old servers and the new ESS ones. I was advised to follow these steps, and that did the trick for us. Workaround The issue has been resolved by updating the download to use an ESS URL. Please follow the below steps to resolve this issue: 1) Cancel the stuck download 2) Restart the SOLUS3 Deployment service within services.msc 3) Open SOLUS3 and navigate to Settings | SOLUS3 | Updates and get updates 'from the beginning' 4) Restart the SOLUS3 deployment service again 5) Now try to download the patch and this should be successful. eddyc
  23. I believe that just typing reboot at the cli should reboot the management card and interface only, and not the UPS itself. eddyc
  24. One piece of advice I would give is to ensure you are using the APC serial lead and not just any standard serial cable. APC have a unique pin layout. I had an issue with our UPS and went to the server room and plugged a standard serial cable into our UPS, which shut it down. The UPS and the whole of production connected to it. That was an embarrassing day!
  25. Probably a silly suggestion, but are there enough free IP addresses in that DHCP pool for the number of devices in the VLAN? eddyc
