It started about 6.30 this morning but the ground was wet from the rain that we had over night.. Its laid a bit on some of the grass but then stopped.. And now started again.. Looking at the forecast we should get a fair bit over the next week hours.. I'm also right on the coast!

It started at 2am after rain and not stopped. Tuesday about 9am its supposed to stop!

Still snowing here! Although when the sun was out briefly it started melting.

The snow has finally arrived. The flakes are currently quite small and the fall is light, but what falls it is settling.

We have had more snow overnight just about. It’s flipping cold and there are currently teeny white flakes descending.

 

I have decided to delay my departure for my rescue shift to give the road treatments chance to work

Nothing here yet, had the tiny flakes yesterday, but apart from a few lonely flakes overnight we are still clear and very cold.

Light dandruff here yesterday but did get slightly heavier but now bac to dandruff again. Outside on my road (which is a fairly quiet side road) it looks like someone has sprinkled sugar sparingly.

Saturday - Yellow warning for snow immediately over my area for overnight Saturday into Sunday. Told several inches possible.

Sunday - Nothing. It tried but immediately melted. No more warnings for the rest of the week.

Monday - Woke up to a light dusting of snow that the forecast didn't predict.

 

Now I know it's not an exact science, but you just feel that the forecasts are getting worse the more supercomputers they throw at them!

We've had hardly any snow this year, one day a few weekends ago it was worth a trip out to chuck a few snowballs around.

 

But, this morning on my drive into work I was nearly caught out on a steep hill. At the bottom, a small amount of snow on the side of the road, half way up the two lanes were down to one with tracks in them, by the top, my RWD car was trying to kill me I'd rather that than another boring drive in though.

We had snow here this morning and yesterday evening

 

 

that stuff that is kinda like a ball of snow 1mm across

 

there were about 10-12 visible at any given time - blowing around mostly

 

We were promised (by Met Office) sleet this evening and snow by now - they have gone back on their promise

Not entirely sure what the Met Office are doing with the £230m of public money that they get each year, but they sure as heck aren’t using it to improve their weather forecasting! They are usually my go-to app, but they have been so off-beam this winter, it’s become something of a joke. BBC and Accuweather got it spot on today for Edgbaston/ Halesowen/ Dudley, but Met Office were absolutely no-where. Fortunately, they were forecasting really bad weather which then didn’t materialise, rather than the other way around!

Weather forecasting in general has gone downhill since the pandemic started. The various weather groups used to get an awful lot of weather data from aeroplanes and flights have reduced massively in the last year. The data that they need for more accurate forecasts just isn’t there at the moment.

 

BBC don’t use the Met office any more either; they use MeteoGroup now.

We have about an inch down now judging by the layer on top of the cars.

 

All looking very pretty and we still have small flakes falling.

 

 

Daughter has to drive 20 miles for a Health&Safety course so she can work on railway lines (she’s an ecologist)

 

Her company won’t let anyone drive their own vehicle for work purposes so her hire car turned up last night... an automatic Mercedes c300d. She ordered a small manual hatchback which she would much rather have in the current road conditions.
