Jcx500 Posted January 23, 2021 Posted January 23, 2021 Curzon Street loop on the BCN main line...? That’s the one ! , not a bad part of the wcml
mikeprice Posted January 23, 2021 Posted January 23, 2021 OK - I demand an impeachment We had some snow this morning OK - several millimetres but it was snow and the Met Office PROMISED there was going to be more some came - and then didn't then it got warmer and some melted but it was OK because the Met Office was saying we would have snow for 3 hours from 4 pm onwards then it got to nearly 2ish and it was sleet for a while - then a break then 3 hours of PROPER snow then it got to 4ish (i.e. close to getting dark and suddenly it switched to NO SNOW AT ALL which means - I had stayed in all day and not gone out on my bike because of the impending snow (slippery - slickish tyres - getting older - kinda dangerous) and NOW they say it ain't gonna happen - just as it starts getting dark!!!!! I get grumpy when I don't go out on my bike when I wanted to
stevejp Posted January 23, 2021 Posted January 23, 2021 The met office forecast here has been changing by the minute - first light snow, then heavy snow, then nothing at all - currently back to light snow for tomorrow afternoon, but goodness knows how many times it will change between now and then!
mikeprice Posted January 23, 2021 Posted January 23, 2021 Looks like the weather is balanced on a knife-edge - a small change in temperature or wind speed and it is all different IT seems easy compared to weather forecasting
6Foot2 Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 (edited) A hard overnight frost, but no snow yet in north-west Hertfordshire, but it looks like it's not far away... Edit: A few small flakes falling now (it's starting?) Edited January 24, 2021 by 6Foot2
DJ-1701 Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 Grumble, grumble darn snow everywhere... it better disappear before tomorrow... bah humbug. 1
6Foot2 Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 Snowing properly here now. It has also snowed in the New Forest:
Steve21 Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 Grumble, grumble darn snow everywhere... it better stay for snow day tomorrow... yay. Fixed that for you! Steve
DJ-1701 Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 Fixed that for you! Steve Unfortunately got laptops arriving tomorrow. Don't exactly want black ice and stuff.
Ditto Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 Heavy snow falling in my part of Surrey. Kids have just found they don't fit into their ski wear - we haven't been for two years! Good couple of inches (5cm if you prefer) so far.
6Foot2 Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 Big flakes falling quite heavily now. We have an even, settled, layer about half an inch deep at the moment I'd guess.
elsiegee40 Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 Kentish white bits... Which have now gone because it’s raining
6Foot2 Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 The snow has stopped falling, and we have had a partial thaw (snow has fallen off some surfaces where it had been sitting)
Norphy Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 It’s stopped snowing, it was fairly heavy for a couple of hours and it’s settled. I suspect it’ll be gone by the end of the day.
AJWhite1970 Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 It has also snowed in the New Forest Indeed it did....
hardtailstar Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 Do we get a snow day if working at home? Also no snow where I live in SE Kent
stevejp Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 Do we get a snow day if working at home? Also no snow where I live in SE Kent SNOW - free to a good home (collection only). Shovelled 5 inches of the b****y stuff off the drive this morning so that I could take my lad back to his mother - it’s covered with the damn stuff again! Temperatures of -8 forecast for tonight - bus to work tomorrow, methinks... Edit to add: walked up the road to Sainsbury’s this afternoon, some idiot up the road flinging shovel-fulls of snow off his drive into the middle of the road - moron! (Can you tell I don’t like snow?) 1
Popular Post Ditto Posted January 24, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 24, 2021 (Can you tell I don’t like snow?) I can see you are giving it a frosty reception, as you will do again in the morning. We end up with about 5 inches. It was delightful seeing kids getting some fun outdoors to alleviate the drudgery of lockdown. One of our neighbours is having work done on their house due to an underground water leak. So there is one of those outdoor porta-loos. The kids built half a dozen mini snow people to create a loo queue - created a lot of laughs that we all need right now. 6
Davit2005 Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Was 3 inches deep in South Herts. Wish I went for a run yesterday morning at 6am now when it was cold but clear. As it is I hate slush and ice, too many memories of slipping and banging head when young.
ICTDirect_Dave Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Theres about an inch ands a half of lovely powdery snow on the ground here in Preston today. Homeschooling is out of the window, the kids are enjoying themselves whilst the snow is here 1
