We need it to be able to: - Plug into to the PC, so no need to mess with changing video inputs, etc. - Let staff minimise it and continue with their work, then go back to it. - So that teachers can stick a students book underneath it and show it to the class. They seem to work ok but need the actual HUE software to be installed to be able to view anything. There was a thread that some others had no issues using another piece of video software but all ours need the HUE software installed. I couldn't tell you the model as the rooms are locked and nobody is allowed in. 1

The ipevo software is a pain as it doesn't install 90% of the time for us as we delete profiles at logoff and it has to get the app from the windows store. Hue or Ipevo via VLC/Camera app is fine. 1

Boredguy Posted July 7, 2020 Posted July 7, 2020 Humm, might be interested in how you deployed it, but not going to detail the thread at the moment for that. It does depend what budget you have for the visualiser is. We have the standard £30 Hue in 2 of the MAT schools and they use the camera software to just display the work and it's fine for them. Our English department didn't like them and went for the £100 Ipevo which had to come from Amazon (which wiped out the credit limit on the card as we needed 8), and they look nice, have a few switches, but can't see it was worth the extra £70 in the current climate (even more so as it turns out English won't be in their classrooms in September but roaming the site due to year group bubbles) We also have the £300+ visualisers that connect directly to the projectors that we got years ago. All 3 do exactly the same thing. If you have good lighting in the room, then cheaper is often fine, otherwise ones with built in lights might be better. Edit, you can get the Hue's via consortium if you use them. 1

jezi55 Posted July 7, 2020 Posted July 7, 2020 We currently use the HueHD visualiser across our site and run it either using VLC or VideoCap. We roll out VLC with a gpo and the HueHDs are just plug and play. Unfortunately because we have LTSC we do not have the windows camera app but I believe they work with that too. 1

ticktock Posted July 7, 2020 Posted July 7, 2020 +1 for Hue. No problems at all. We had problems with ipevo, wavy lines on the display whereas Hue were perfect on the same machines.

Zero issues however - and the software (we use the standard MSI packaged software) installs in literally 30 seconds using PDQ/SCCM. Hardware is absolutely solid and great quality.

Works fine for what they need 1

ticktock Posted July 9, 2021 Posted July 9, 2021 We have Hue's in every classroom. They work really well. The only issue is that teachers pick them up by the stem and the base drops off (sometimes on the floor damaging them). 1
AM369 Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 +1 for HueHD. Bought over 150 since start the of lockdown. Plug and play working with any software like Camera app and Teams for us. Occasional issues where you might need to disconnect and reseat connection points but can't complain really. 2
