Regarding MOT, same boat here. If worst comes to worst you can't use your car but can drive it to an MOT if you bring the booking with you to show the Police.

 

Aren't they only supposed to be focusing on serious crimes?

Would you expect to be paid if you did n't come in?

 

I'll gladly come in to work, I'm being paid to do so and anything I can do to help this dreadful situation.

What about support staff who have kids in a closed school? Plus we need to see what the 5:00pm update is. I suspect it will require some teachers in to support key workers children.

Yep, union.

 

One of my heads seems to be making plans for getting work to pupils who may be off, but is sure we won't close - to the point of not answering any of my queries about what they would really need access to should the worst happen. I'm going to keep plugging away at my plans, as if it happens it will likely need to be done pdq.

I started with a sore throat on Saturday; now on my third day of isolation with all the symptoms.

 

Hope it's all mild and you're feeling better soon.

It's worded in a way that if you're not off for what ever reason you've got to be in.

 

Im stuck, I live 10 minutes from work walking, I dont have kids.

 

My only hope is to develop symptoms of a cold but I never get ill.

Presumably that means non-teaching support staff? What about TA's. Will be interesting if this becomes 'IT and facilities support staff'. Keep an eye open to finance HR, etc. One would hope there is a case by case check based on the ability to work at home. Previously as a Data Manager, I would be classified as support staff , but I could do 100% of my role remotely. I also did the vast majority of the GSuite for Education admin. Again, 100% able to do this at home.

Agreed. Teachers, or at least some of them could come in to support remote learning. The site I work at called an INSET yesterday to provide all teachers with a crash-course in online educating.

Isn't the point to isolate people from each other to stop the spread? If you have 60 support staff working in the same building are you preventing the spread?

Schools in Wales closed, Easter brought forward, some wishy washy comment about re-purposing the the schools. How if Easter is brought forward and all staff on holidays?

 

Can we bring forward Xmas, I miss Santa

Socially yes and if they can work from home so be it, otherwise we have to just get on with it and be sensible.

If the government closed the schools to stop the spread of the virus, I wouldn't expect to be told to go into work.

My boss has already said he will be off looking after his children. I dont have kids!

Not sure about TAs but I presume they wont be able to do anything as they work with the children.

Our teachers are going to be uploading stuff to the school website and Show My Homework.

Thats what I thought. I have two at risk parents I live with and I dont want to be the one that brings the virus home to them.

I live alone, my train is empty and support staff are spread out. So my risks of catching it are low and if I do catch it, I have nobody at home to spread it to. So coming in is no big deal for me if it comes to that. Not that I would mind a bit of remote working, nothing like making a small fry-up on your lunch break. :D

And if you get really sick no one to help you? Make sure you have someone to do at least some shopping for you. We all need to remember to care of ourselves.
