In support of that view, I commend the book "Factfulness" to you. And the quiz that starts the book off HERE. Try it; only about 13 questions, and I'd put very good money on it changing your view of the state of the world.

 

I got q6 wrong.

I can thoroughly recommend the book. It gives quite a positive view, but with the take that it is worth trying to fix things; it's very easy to fall into the trap of thinking that all the things that were awful 20 or 30 years ago are still broken. It's not all rosy, but we should focus on things that do need to be fixed. Keep up the fight, but make sure it's the right fight.

looks like we will be having Christmas Dinner with just the two of us

Mrs mikeprice will probably be a bit down about it - so I need something to make her laugh

 

CLEARLY this is it - I will print each one off and make a sort of cracker using a toilet roll inside and get her to open each one

 

there is a possibility that the actual jokes do not make her laugh much

 

but the constant on going bad jokes may be what I need

 

 

 

I have found that constant eye rolling eventually produces laughter

We've had two asymptomatic students test positive only because they're involved in the randomised sampling so get tested weekly. God knows how many other cases are walking about freely.

 

We are now at 271 students out of 1220 having to self-isolate from positive tests or close contact with same, but Public Health England still refuse to let us close even a year group because, I paraphrase, "your systems are so thorough that you don't need to". Yet even with these amazing systems--clear bubbling, no crossover times etc.--we're up to an average of three new cases a day, and it's snowballing. Which almost proves it's impossible to keep a school open and operating normally in a global pandemic, you'd think!

Here we have lots of schools shut or partially shut.

 

2 Arc school in near town are shut till new year, another one is closed to two years groups. In another town near us, one school just reopened after being closed for 2 weeks. So far we were very lucky, 3 cases among pupils. But this Monday all canteen staff had to self isolate for 2 weeks. Around here cases are on the raise. Wonder when it is going to hit us strongly.

Isn't it mandatory to be able to offer a meal? To meet FSM requirements of nothing else.

 

In which case, shouldn't the school be closed?

Our canteen staff had to isolate back in October. As far as I remember, we bought in pre-packaged stuff for the FSM kids and weren't offering school lunches otherwise.

We now got temp canteen staff. So it is open, but not in the full capacity
