£1000 for Staff Wellbeing

We've just found out that we're being given an extra £1000 to be spent on "Staff Wellbeing"!!!!!

Any suggestions I can present to our SLT on what this money can be spent on?

 

Any and all ideas welcome!

Solely for Staff Well-being, so anything!!! e.g. Bacon Butties for everyone till the end of the financial year or the money runs out.

Staff fry-up breakfast every Friday

On the first inset day in September we have a breakfast provided that all staff are invited to.

Bar installed in the staff room with free flowing alcohol on tap during lunch times.

Afternoons would fly by.

A regular event - whether it is a sporty thing or a 'get-together type thing would seem best - but it can easily discriminate against those with kids that need picking up/feeding etc

 

AT one school where I worked for a while there was tea, coffee and biscuits served in the staff room every break time - OK we had to pay but it was done at cost and the school paid the dinner ladies who came in to do it

This had the effect of getting most of the staff together for a short while every day so we all got to know each other better and share experiences

 

not everyone participated but done properly it did help

There was also always the Head or DH there so anyone could talk to them if they needed to - or just wanted a chat

At one place, we used to get a free tea/coffee at break in the staff room every school day, but that was it. It did help with being able to go chat with staff for a few minutes outside of any IT issues which was good. However miss that timeslot and tough. Everything else you had to pay for yourself. No facilities in the staff room to make anything. Not even a communal kitty for coffee etc.

 

 

I do find here that the structure of the school day, doesn't allow any socialising outside of any actual IT issues. I can go the whole day without a human or face-to-face interaction with another adult. So I do think the wellbeing is something that needs working on in a lot of schools.

 

Myself however as I have a kettle in the office and it's only me, I make a drink whenever I want. I have invited some staff up for a coffee who have partaken in a chat and coffee.

THAT is a VERY good point!

 

Sometimes schemes like this "forget" to include the support staff. Which then creates an even greater divide between "them" and "us" than there already is. Which isn't exactly going to contribute to the wellbeing as a whole.

I'd have one in my office, he can sit by the radiator in a little basket. I'd take him for a walk every lunch hour.

Its a nice touch but cheap.
