SVM Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 I am sure Dave from schools broadband jumped into Exas forum thread previously highlighting the lack of comms...
caffrey Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Update – P0 Case Reference – 01138958 Apologies with the delay to this communication, engineers have been on a conference call all afternoon with Netsweeper. We believe we have found the issue and have put a temporary fix in place. We will be carrying out additional work this evening to make the fix permanent and will send further comms in the morning. A full RFO will be distributed once we have a confirmed fix in place. Still running like a sack of potatoes here
JimmyA Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Just a selection of images from SBB's Twitter feed.

Hotel23 Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 I never got the RFO from the last issues. Did anyone? No I didn't either. Are you surprised?
cullingsh Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 I didn't. I also don't get the status updates and rely on someone else sending them, despite requesting a couple of times to be added to the list.
SchoolsBroadband Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Good evening everyone, Sorry for my tardy response. We appear to have had an intermittent issue for some customers following a Netsweeper software upgrade performed early last week which initially appeared to go fine but has only become apparent today following heavy usage after the holidays. We have worked with Netsweeper all day and are continuing to do this evening as we make some recommended changes as advised by Netsweeper. We will continue to monitor throughout the evening and early morning when traffic volumes return to normal daily use. We have a live call with Netsweeper senior engineers at 08:30 who will be monitoring the platform to check if the changes have fixed the underlying issue. It's too early yet to fully comment on the fault but we belive it's down to a software alternation different from our previous build. We will update everyone in due course following monitoring tomorrow. Thanks Dave
Edu-IT Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Genuine question. What is a software alternation?
SchoolsBroadband Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Hi @Edu-IT, Quite a few different things and I meant that as a generic term. So change in config, change in underlying code etc Thanks Dave 1
Edu-IT Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 That’s great, thanks. Just wanted to understand.
caffrey Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 (edited) Seems to be working okay today, but then again the traffic hasn't really started Spoke too soon, it's slow again Slow for anyone else ? Edited February 25, 2020 by caffrey
PrimaryNetMan Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Seems to be working okay today, but then again the traffic hasn't really started Spoke too soon, it's slow again Slow for anyone else ? Struggling to get more than 10MB down 30MB up on a 100/100 leased line this morning.
andy_b Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Ours seems OK today. 175 down 200 up on 200/1GB.
SchoolsBroadband Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Morning all, the changes we made in conjunction with Netsweeper appears to have fixed the issue. We are not seeing slow speeds over our estate in general. if you do have any speed issues please raise with our support team. That said I'll PM @caffrey and @PrimaryNetMan as if you are having a common issue I can take that to the NOC team to see if there's anything wider but we're certainly not seeing that at the moment. Thanks Dave
stevo1565 Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 I think a bit more communication would be good, it seems when things go wrong your support go dark and then we have nothing to relay back to our clients / customers. A phone message to say you have issues instead of being on hold would be beneficial. Think we all need to see better service and more stability. 1
caffrey Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 (edited) Seems to be okay now, but has Google Password Sync broke for anyone ? Or is it just a coincidence ? I've put a support ticket in anyway *edit* ignore me, just fixed it - just a coincidence Edited February 25, 2020 by caffrey
sister_annex Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 I need a favour SBB Peeps out there, can someone try accessing the tesco.com sign in page? Apparently it was 'working last week' and now were get an access denied. The sign in page works fine from my 4G connection so just want to check TIA
caffrey Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 (edited) I get an access denied here, using a test teacher account edit it works on my guest account which bypasses netsweeper Edited February 27, 2020 by caffrey 1
sister_annex Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 (edited) Thanks @caffrey now the long slog to find out where it's being blocked... :| edit: actually nevermind, it's now working... I wonder who changed something, because it wasn't me!? Edited February 27, 2020 by sister_annex
caffrey Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 I still get access denied here (not the usual netsweeper block page), wonder if its the captcha
Edu-IT Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 I think it's to do with Tesco changing something their end, and some IP's being blacklisted, in my opinion. Are you on 85.92.167.228? We were on this earlier, I raised a case pointing out my thoughts, and now our IP has changed. The CAPTCHA thing is new on Tesco so maybe they're upgrading their security.

We're not now no, I don't know what we were on earlier. Yes, our finance team called them and they said they had made some security changes around the recaptcha and some other bits. It's working now for us here either way.
paulkerton Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 Anyone having issues with Google Sites and Google Calendar today? We've had them exempted on the student filter previously, but they seem to have gone mysteriously missing again.

If you call Tesco website support they have an automated message about issues with their website. Spoke to a guy too who said their isn’t at ETA yet but they are working on it (Don’t know what it is but guessing something to do with blacklisting external IP addresses which is why it doesn’t work on schoolsBB)
Edu-IT Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 It does work on SBB, seems certain IP addresses it didn't. So that would make sense with what Tesco are saying.
