How often do you clean YOUR keyboard

Just found this article about some keyboards being as dirty as a toilet seat so come on, when did you last thoroughly clean your keyboard

 

Been at this job nearly a year now and this is the first time i've done it and i found enough crumbs to feed a small village for a day

I clean mine when I do my desk... about once a month with a virucidal cleaner.

not enough LOL, I don't think I have ever cleaned my work keyboard Just go down to the stores and get a new one every year or so

 

As for home I think it see's a cloth once a year ish NOT GOOD

At the start of each of the three main holidays, I go round all the machines (keyboards and mice) with the antibacterial wipes as part of my maintenance. They get a darn good shake first.

 

I wish I could say I was as fastidious at home!

. When the keys jam

. When my fingers stick to it

. when staff members prat about with it

. in the event of a random outbreak of ceiling wee

. in the event of random fluid seepage or spillage

 

*whichever comes first.

 

Mostly I just upend it and smack it on the desk a few times.

 

The home keyboard has tomato soup in it...one day I'll get round to cleaning it. ;-)

We had a company that relentlessly spammed us with calls about cleaning keyboards and mice etc. To shut them up we got them in to do a free test clean. they then gave us a price based on the number of machines we had. Turned out they wanted £5.50 per PC. You could hear the laughter all the way down the corridor.

 

It's cheaper to replace the keyboard and mouse than to clean them.

I probably don't clean anyone elses keyboard as much as I perhaps should....

I don't clean mine in the office as no one else but me uses my machine. No excuse really but never get time to clean it.

When the pesky "100 hour keyboard warning" message appears i drop everything to find the "keyboard fairy" who has nothing better to do but clean keyboards. If it's not done within 2 minutes i rush off to find the Head to complain about the shambolic service.

ok I'll admit the home pc and laptop cleaned once a fortnight which for a smoker is not good , The work systems are done daily which is good not by us but external cleaning company but they cant help just moving my paper work can be quite irratating lol,

I normally give mine a wipe over with a duster every week. That doesn't really count as cleaning though does it? I never use antibacterial wipes or any other cleaning agent on my keyboard.

I clean my work keyboard about 2/3 times a week!!

Mines a wireless one so i give it a good spray with the virucidal stuff... wipe it over then shake it about to try and dry under the keys. If I get bored I'll use the air compressor to dry it!

I cleaned mine over the easter break, took all the keys off, disinfected them (as they hadn't been cleaned for about 3 years), hoovered out under the keys and disinfected that and then took me 15 mins to put all the keys back in the right order. I think i shall be doing this about once a year.

Never... at home or work... Germs can be good as well as bad...

 

How often do the rest of the pc's get done at work, only if the cleaners do it which judging by the state of a lot of our rooms never.

I clean all the school keyboards at the end of each half term. They're usually filthy by tnen but I don't have time to clean them more often.

At home a quick dust now and again and a thorough clean maybe once a year

Keyboards don't last long enough at work to require cleaning.

Keyboard at home gets binned after 6 months.

I'm sat here in an IT suite where 100's of children have been through here, machines are 3 years old, same keyboards and mice...... never ever have they been cleaned.

The only ever 'cleaning' I do is to get rid of crumbs and random crap that somehow gets under the keys!

 

I have never taken any form of wipe or anti-bacterial stuff to a keyboard... I'm still alive so meh!

Never, I'm using my Dad's at the moment, it's disgusting.

 

I am planning to grow cress in the assistant head's one over the summer hols.
