On thursday 13 teachers going on strike and the school is going to be closed to kids for the day(im guessing the head is a member of NUT? when support staff went on strike year 9/11s were in for the day).

Remaining teachers/staff still have to come in for the day, so what are you going to do?

I might do some network maintenance jobs that need doing, or suggest we do some extra training sessions for staff. If none of the above then im going to lock the office door and hide all day and get my back log of work sorted. Just off a 2 week 'easter' break so its not that bad.

canteen is on a sandwich only day grrr food in there is really good!

One staff member is off, and the pupils in his classes are too, everyone else is in, but TBH i don't mind considering most of the annoying ones happen to be in the classes that won't be here...

School closed but non-striking staff all in. I'm working offsite at a charity we support that day so don't get to enjoy a day without children. Oh, what am I talking about - some of the staff are like big kids anyway so it wouldn't be any different.....

We are open and my son's secondary school is open. I haven't heard about my daughter's secondary school yet, but I'm not expecting it to close

EDIT

Significant numbers of staff out at daughter's school, but pre-arranged days out mean that 2 entire year groups are not on site, so the school will be open.

Nope..we're running as usual. Just like last time. I can't see us having any staff out..last time there were 10 or so, and they've all left now. Didn't affect us at all..we just worked around it.

It'll annoy the kids, I know that..just like that last idiotic "snow day" where all the schools panicked and shut, yet we stayed open through the nice sunshine. We had kids swearing and all sorts..:D

So selfish of them to strike, it puts children's futures at risk. Teachers pay has gone up alot under a labour government.

School open here.

7-11 are not in, sixth form are in where their classes can still go on without having to be covered, all staff apart from NUT are in.

1 room to rebuild and some Macs to sort out so glad of the quiet day really.

All but two teaching staff off here, so school is closed to kids, most of support staff in - we were given the option of day off no-pay or come in and be paid. :-)

Thats an interesting observation.

School closed here. we're to maintain normal service (no downtime) but there will be no students and only a handful of teachers - so it looks like it'll be a coffee and meetings day.

about 1/3 of teachers will be striking. No kids will be in. I'm intending to upgrade Moodle to 1.9 Stable (it's on Beta still atm). However, I'm also hoping for a picket line. As the entrance to the school is next to the pub...

They are about 10 - 15 members of the NUT here and the school is open for all students apart from Years 7 and 8. Most of the sixth form are out of school on a conference that day also.

whole school operating as normal here :(...only a fraction of teachers are even members of the NUT

Think it might also be that our head, although a really nice guy, is just someone you wouldnt want to get on the bad side of...I cant imagine any teachers having the balls to strike :D

the primary school I support is striking, so thinking about spending the whole day there and not going to my secondary which will be open as normal.

Going to re-image all the computers in the primary school, aswell as check out a few problems that have been reported to me. Fun fun!
