Bionic Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 I'm looking for a supplier to quote me for a batch of replacement computers, can anyone offer any recommendations? Thanks.
Mr_Andy Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Preferences on spec, manufacturer etc? Been going directly to Dell of late, usually the best pricing. 1
Rob_D Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 We use mostly SoftCat and BT Business Direct these days. https://www.softcat.com/ https://www.businessdirect.bt.com/ 2
JATSO Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 I'm looking for a supplier to quote me for a batch of replacement computers, can anyone offer any recommendations? Thanks. I find Probrand Market Place very useful and competitive. https://marketplace.probrand.co.uk/ 1
rnfuk Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 I have used IDNS and found them very competitive. https://www.idns.co.uk/ 1
yac2016 Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Dell best pricing on any spec...i3 7th gen, 4gb, 128gb ssd, win 10 pro and 3 year warranty under £350 ex vat. 2
keyboards Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 We use https://www.hardwarespares.com/ You'll probably be better off emailing them, all refurb stuff but all of it arrives looking brand new we've been getting roughly Dell Optiplex 790/7010 I3/I5 SSD 8GB of Ram - Kingston(so reasonable quality) For about 150-200 Then a dell screen on top for about 30-40 So a machine all in 200-230 ish including screen, all dell cables ie vga, power, mice, keyboard so forth 1
witch Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 If you are looking at refurbs it has to be ICT Direct. 2
LTurner Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 We use Highgate-IT and CCS media for general equipment. For computers and laptops we use Stone. 1
sparkeh Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 @VeryPC are excellent. Have a chat with @VeryPC_Colin_M and he'll do you proud. 3
HTCPCP Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 Another +1 for VeryPC - I've never had a badly built machine from them before. For refurbs, ICTDirect fo sho! Dell - very hit and miss really on times, and last few quotes they have been miles off the ball. That and delivery... HP - normally get them within a day or 2 Insight - A good account manager is a real benefit, and often incredibly quick with delivery times. 4
Fazza Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 Assuming it's desktops you're after the NS Optimum or VeryPC are your guys! 2
yac2016 Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 Assuming it's desktops you're after the NS Optimum or VeryPC are your guys! NSOptimum must be the worse company out there for sales...avoid.
Fazza Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 (edited) NSOptimum must be the worse company out there for sales...avoid. Never had a problem with them - great service and great prices! (for the desktops with the tamper resistant cases that is) Edited June 7, 2018 by Fazza
Jawloms Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 NS Optimum is a horrendous company. Wouldn't touch them with someone else's barge pole.......
MayJames Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 I'm. Getting some. Great pricing from assetone online they are large it refurbisher and got some great kit previously from them. And will buy another 60-90 pcs and monitors soon. Also icuk is quite good price and negotiable
TheRobins Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 I have used many in my time but have seriously found my haven with https://www.academyict.com/ HP mainly but can get other units, No one has touched their pricing for me. What makes the difference though is their ability to strike some cracking deals especially with Cashback on older machines, Just had a batch of laptops that come out at £180 each with 3 years on-site after cashback, cannot grumble.
christhetech Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 I've been using PCM for PCs and laptops since Misco went under. Only started using them because our Misco account manager was an absolute diamond and he was snapped up by PCM within a couple of days of getting made redundant by Misco. I think that having a helpful account manager, who will go the extra mile to get your order out to you is the most important factor, especially when the bean counters have sat on the quote for weeks before deciding to approve it for you, then want it installed yesterday. Pricing is ok, not always the absolute best out there, but availability is always really good and 9/10 delivery arrives next day. I could probably get a little bit cheaper elsewhere, but don't really need the hassle tbh. I have used Stone in the past for Toshiba laptops & they were ok, and got railroaded into using CDW on another occasion, but I always end up going back to what I know.
centerprise_lucy Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 Hi Bionic, I’m from Centerprise, a company that has been around in other sectors for more than 30 years, i.e. main supplier for MoD. We have recently just moved into the education sector. I would love to offer our service and help you in anyway we can. Drop me a pm
soapyfish Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 Misco / PCM, and Insight have worked very well for me over the last 12 years although the individual account managers are a big part of it. I have always avoided smaller vendors like Very PC and NS optimum as I have never been able to get a guarantee that parts would be replaced with identical units if/when they fail( especially motherboards) which has a big impact on system rebuilds as well as spares management. I am in the lucky position of having all of my desktops bought and refreshed together and therefore being identical machines. I have also found that on price when ordering large volumes of computers that the big suppliers are always as cheap or cheaper than the smaller vendors for the same spec. Some smaller vendors offer outrageous pricing on occasions which I wonder is it an attempt to rip off the education sector...... I am happy to pass on the details of my account managers if you PM me.
markwilfan Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 Insight has replaced misco for me. Very competitive pricing and free delivery
