Yup I can confirm this, had to add exactly the same API URL to Authentication Exceptions then it worked OK

One issue I'm noticing, specifically for mobile devices, is that when powering up a device after sleep/hibernation you have to end the Drive Stream process and launch the app again. Not an issue for desktops, but definitely my mobile users. Anyone seen this issue or better yet have a fix?

File stream crashes my home router. A few weeks ago my router at home crashed and kept crashing. It would work for a few mins and then crash. Even rebooting it would not fix it but waiting for 10 / 15 mins and it would work for another 5. After testing different things I narrowed it down to file stream, specifically while uploading new files to Google drive through file stream

Also I am not sure if it's my router that has crashed or something further up as I can still use internal network, wired and wireless. It's like Now Tv borks out with Google File Stream.

I installed it using the --silent switch through SCCM. Worked fine.

 

It's installing silently for me however it then opens as current user.

 

Installing when no user is logged on works.

has anyone actually got the --silent flag to function on the installer? it just dies for me if i use the --silent argument.

 

unless that only comes into play at launch, was just looking to test deployment on a few pc's

Was just about to post about this as it's happening to me on my machine (so it can't be user error [emoji39] ). The weird thing is that Before half term it was available from when I installed it and didn't need to be run every time I re-booted. Now it seems I need to open the application every time I log in.

We have had this as well. I was going to set it as a start-up item to get around it. However they place it in a folder named after the version number so it will keep changing!

i used pdq deploy free edition, went out without issue here. could probably get creative with a startup script if thats more to your liking.

Looking at the PDQ deploy script all they ahve done is add the --silent switch... rolls out fine for us.

I'm specifically wondering about how it handles offline files in Team Drives as I'm concerned about data protection implications if staff take an offline copy of all the files in the school's shared areas onto their personal laptops/etc.

Most school Internet connections come with something like 99% up times and high SLAs. Do you really want to avoid cloud storage and better, easier access to files, collaboration and unlimited disk space, just because the Internet might go down once in a while?

 

I'd rather have a single point of failure than multiple points of failure. What if the server hard disk fails? What if the PSU fails? What if the motherboard fails? What if the NAS box fails? What if the users fill up the space on the server? In theory anything could go wrong and for me, cloud storage, in this case, Google Drive, is much lesser risk than on site servers/storage.

 

With Google Drive, all you need is a device with an Internet connection and you have access to your files.

And mostly: What if you have 1/10/40Gbps connection to your file server, but only 10/100/1000Mbps to the internet?

There's no reason to think the costs will go up, ditch the promise of unlimited storage or ban files based upon the content. They are not Microsoft!
