Although I've been enjoying this season (and Bill has turned out much better than the trailers suggested), I haven't really been excited by any episode apart from the last one - and the surprises in that were ruined if you'd been on the internet/seen a paper or magazine in the last few months.

I haven't taken to Bill one bit. Killing her and turning her into a cyberman was the highlight of the last episode for me.

Although my guess is that the Doctor uses up his regeneration power to save her and she will be back next season.

I actually really like Bill. She's just 'a normal person', which is great.

We've had tonnes of companions who because assertive, confident Doctor-Lites (Rory even shouted at the Doctor for it!). Look at Rose, Donna, Martha, Clara.. and then Bill has just been.. Normal. It's been refreshing.

The Guardian weighs in on why the next Doctor should be/must be female:

Link: Doctor Who: why the new Time Lord can and must be a woman

The comments section is very predictable for that article. The fanboys who watch the show don't want the Doctor to change, and the Political Idealogues who never watch the show are demanding that the cis white male doctor be ousted.

It was a disaster when Marvel comics listened to identity politics. It will be a disaster if Doctor Who does the same.

It might not be an issue this time around. Apparently, the front runner for the new Doctor is Kris Marshall:

That's been disproven. Can't remember if it was fake news or he was cast but stepped down due to scheduling conflicts.

:/ I wish they wouldn't announce it and it's a total suprise - Tho I guess the press would ruin it anyway!

Same, but in this day and age it would be near impossible!

Mrs. P. has just suggested Toby Jones for the new Doctor:

This could be a workable choice: He has appeared as the Dream Lord in Amy's Choice.

You know, with the Dreamlord's hatred of the Doctor... and knowledge from the episode of what he is... I always thought of him as a possibly the beginning of the Valeyard...

As The Master said... 'Somewhere between his 12th and final incarnation'. ;)

I think the next one needs more of an aura of malice ... so the niceness stands out more.

Another good candidate would be Andrew Scott, especially considering he is Moriarty in Sherlock.

Apparently the bookies have suspended betting on one candidate. (Previously mentioned here as they had recently left one show).

But it wasn't him.

Reasonably happy with the person, but will have to see how they pan out.
