Providing she ditches the accent she used as Beth Latimer I'm sure she'll be fine. I'm not sure the world is ready for a Cornish Doctor whatever their gender!

Yes, of course - I didn't mean the sidekicks would still necessarily be female - but if they are male, the dynamic will be so different In the previous identities, the doctor has on occasion been allowed to be daft, miss the obvious, forget and been shown up by his companions. I am concerned that a female doctor won't be allowed to do the same by the writers. I hope this isn't the case.

I think that the BBC have held off for a while, A few years ago the world was going crazy for female leads in flim/tv even though there was many good female parts/leads in films/tv. Personally I think the new series will be interesting.

If 13 makes a mistake, will there be accusations of the writers being misogynistic? Also wondering about the companion. As that role is usually also there for eye candy, will they have a hot young guy rather than the preferred New Who setting of hot young woman? I don't think I've seen her in anything before I don't really have an opinion on her, not seen her in anything so wouldn't know if she would be a good or bad Doctor! Yes, I agree +1 If the female role is rooted in feminism-pandering, then I can see the doctor not being allowed to be written as irrational, vulnerable, or broken (which we've had in spades from the male leads) just in case it's seen as portraying women as weak. If the female role isn't pandering, then I hope we get some of those scenes, because those have the potential to be defining, outstanding moments for each Doctor, and I love them. 1

Don't be overly worried that things will change, or react to 10 people complaining about something on twitter, "will there be complaints about the writers being x?" yes, by a tiny number of people who might stop complaining if you don't take any notice of them. Just wait until it starts instead of predicting how it will change/people will complain

What about UNIT asking for The Doctor and talking to a male sidekick first assuming they are the boss? And how she will handle the old attitudes of the episodes with historical settings? Possible trans themes when The Doctor's old acquaintances go "Well you've changed."

Considering what could happen during regeneration with whatever is used for genetic code ... we have no real idea about the true idea what sex the Doctor is anyway ... as any physical characteristics are subject to altering at regeneration ... and the Doctor has two hearts ... so $deity knows what goes on inside that body with respect to hormones! Realistically we have to think how improbable it is that a) the regeneration has never involved a sex change before and b) all the Doctors (including the upcoming one) have been white. 1

We know that Time Lords/Ladies can change sex when they regenerate, that's fixed in both old and new canon. I think if they want to properly play it straight, they need to mention it every now and again, but not make a big fuss out of it. Which unfortunately is probably easier said than done. "Right.. OK. Appearance. Arms.. Legs.. Head. Got those. Ooh, longer hair? Blonde? Still not ginger!? Hearts. Two still. Good." The Doctor keels over in pain. "Oh sure, because both of them beating would just be too easy, wouldn't it?" The Doctor punches herself in the chest to kickstart her second heart. "Those weren't there before.. Wait.." The Doctor pauses for thought. "Well that's a new one!" Roll opening credits. Or if she's somewhere she shouldn't be.. Say, inside a military base.. "Hey, you! You can't be here. I'm going to need to see some ID." The Doctor ignores the officer "Excuse me? Miss? I said you can't be here." The Doctor continues to examine the alien object in her hands, the officer approaches her and taps her on the shoulder. "Listen, you're going to ha-" "Oh, I'm sorry, were you talking to me? I'm so used to being a man, you see. Also, I'm afraid I can be here, you see, I'm on special orders from $Somebody." The Doctor pulls out her Psychic Paper and shows it to the bemused officer. 1

ICTDirect_Dave Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Well he started regenerating during the last episode, so expect it to be going on throughout the whole episode. There might well be some personal choice going on as to his appearance, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw one or two different faces begin to form before the final form sets. Having said that, Tennant spent quite a while visiting everyone before he finally succumbed.

Want more of a Tennant to Smith approach! Tardis being destroyed etc, well that's what happened when he held his Regeneration energy in last time! 2
