Tesla Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 For the people earlier saying about screen freezing. I'm fairly sure it's the battery saver option being ticked that causes it. Anyone else able to debunk this?
Seb1780 Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Concerned about the increasing number of people appearing on my doorstep, I downloaded the app and had a look. This is the view from my sofa. 1

Yikes. Empty around my area. I have to walk for a good 10 minutes before I get to a Pokestop!

BKGarry Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 I;m 100% sure it's battery saver, had it turned off since Saturday and not had the main map screen go unresponsive since
Arreks Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Is battery saver the thing that blackens the display when orientation is changed? I've enabled it but I'm certainly getting more "about-to-catch-this-mon-I-haven't-got-yet-oh-wait-it's-crashed" moments.
thimon Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Finally caught a Jinx on my way to work!!! It's been on my radar so many times and never appeared. Also got to level 21, 75000 XP to level 22
bald_pig Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 I decided to leave for work early and visit a few pokestops on the way in, got 3 5k eggs and a 10k egg out of it, and a couple more pokemon too, got to the last two stops right outside the school, and the servers have gone titsup
thimon Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 My dog is loving the early morning long walks... Sweet, didn't know you could find out how much you had walked. I'm currently on 51km, my poor legs!

thimon Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 how are people so high ive done about 11k since say Thursday (diddnt do owt Saturday) spent about 90 mins walking yesterday and probably about the same Sunday morning Careful use of lucky eggs. I save up Pokemon candy and only evolve my Pokemon when I use a lucky egg, end up getting minimum 1000XP for each evolution, plus when you find a new Pokemon with a lucky egg active you get around 1600XP. All adds up.

This is the view from my sofa. I wish I had stuff that close to my house, I have to walk for about 10 minutes to catch 2 pokemon and to get to the nearest pokestop! Join us! You may as well since you basically live in a pokestop! Ive only done 24.1km, however I have had a 10k egg for about 4 days now, done about 24-26km just walking the dog in that time and its only registered 6.3km. Spend most of my walking life trying to get the app to open now, must say last night was a bit more successful compared to the weekend, but still had to reload the app about 20 times in an hour. Really annoying when I can see everyone else playing it and challenging gyms without an issue =( Did see this last night on facebook, most of it makes sense, although some of it isn't quiet as obvious: https://rankedboost.com/pokemon-go/catching-locations/ Edited July 19, 2016 by DanTheLacky

localzuk Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Pokémon Go is having quite the potent influence on the Nintendo’s finances as its market capitalization has more than doubled since the launch of the game. I'm not sure why its quite so huge an increase to be honest! Its a single game. A game in a market which is quite "faddy" so will likely pass into oblivion in a matter of months. Plus, they didn't make the game themselves either. The question I would be asking as an investory is if this is the start of a new mobile strategy, or if its a one off. They really need to get another big name IP out on mobile within 6 months I'd say, to keep the momentum going. Hope their shares don't tank again.

All adds up. Been thinking of doing this myself. There's a lot of Pidgey and Weedle in my area, which are both 12 candy to evolve iirc. I do need to go on a pokeball run, though, getting pretty low. Realistically, if you saved up candy for 60 evolutions you could get 50-60kexp in an hour (500exp for evolving once x2, ~30s per evolution).. Even more if you're lucky to not encounter any server downtime. I'm not sure why its quite so huge an increase to be honest! Its a single game. But Ingress had a lot of players, and I'd like to think Niantic learned their lession with p2w and calvinball.. If Niantic/The Pokemon Company can add more to the game and get some events going to keep people playing after the initial buzz wears off, they'll be in for a good money maker. If not, though, shares'll tank back down again. Edited July 19, 2016 by Garacesh
Tesla Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 yessss. location just went weird for a bit at work. got two pokemon appear next to me and i was next the the nearby pokestop.
CHR1S Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Nope. IAP, ads, premium version... All it does is lock the damn screen. I have no idea what that means

Duranis Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Pretty much gave up trying to play this over the weekend. When we could get logged in it was locking up when you actually tried to catch anything. Did try and convince the boy that we could still go for a nice walk but without the pokemon he wasn't having it I think increased spawn rate where lots of users have been is a thing. Turned it on when we went to Tesco's last night and despite being in the middle of nowhere with no stops nearby I caught about 10 pokemon in less than 15 mins in the carpark. Guessing that a lot of people sitting around waiting in the car with it going increased the spawn rate. On the seafront near where I live I have caught every type of pokemon so not sure the whole biome thing is such a big deal.
