Lonix Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 I really don't see why it is the software developers responsibility to take the role of a parent? I also don't see exactly how the app is supposed to put any "safeguarding" features in. Completely agree. It's always down to the parent to be aware of what their children are doing. Education can only do it's best in educating basic common sense to kids. If they listen is another matter. We all know to look left/right when crossing the road, a basic thing we all teach our kids when they walk outside. If a kid refuses to pay attention to that.. instead stare at their mobile phone (sorry no different to texting etc) then that's the kids fault for not using common sense. Other half will walk around bag in one hand while poorly attempting to use her phone. Even I tell her anyone can run past her and grab it. Can she run fast? No. Her fault for not being safe. Not a car manufacturers responsibility to make sure drivers use the seatbelt or drive within the speeding laws. It's all PC gone mad because people can't look in the mirror when placing blame. "Its not my fault" is a term used far too much.
BKGarry Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 (edited) Just popped out to go to the local gym, that is 3 mins walk from the school, and it's part of my team (mystic) and I had the highest CP so I am currently sitting on top :-) Edited July 14, 2016 by BKGarry
JJonas Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 I'm mid-tutorial but can't go anywhere at the moment. Also, NSPCC raising concerns at a total lack of basic safeguarding features. I think they are pushing for the CEOP red button in the app (which I'm surprised isn't there). https://www.nspcc.org.uk/fighting-for-childhood/news-opinion/pokemon-go/ I'd think twice before setting off a lure at your school! I believe lures only work at Pokestops
Grey-gear Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Quite a few kids asking for the wifi password to play Pokémon Go, have to keep saying no to them though. Going to download it at home tonight.
X-13 Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Quite a few kids asking for the wifi password to play Pokémon Go, have to keep saying no to them though. Going to download it at home tonight. Why not set up a guest WiFi ssid for Pokemon Go and only let people connect during break/lunch? Become the cool IT guy. I believe in you.
Lonix Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 We are considering looking at blocking this.. after just a few days..
BKGarry Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Well we have a Guest Wifi but it seems to be blocked automatically.......at the moment
BKGarry Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Anyone else getting really annoyed with the crashing when you have just caught a Pokemon in a pokeball and it just stops and you have to wait to get back in to see if you got it?
Garacesh Posted July 14, 2016 Author Posted July 14, 2016 I haven't done any pokemon hunting tonight.. I may or may not have soft-bricked my phone
Duranis Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Anyone else getting really annoyed with the crashing when you have just caught a Pokemon in a pokeball and it just stops and you have to wait to get back in to see if you got it? Yes, especially when its a really good one. A lot of times it seems to respawn so you can catch it again but sometimes it doesn't. Was my birthday today and had family round so couldn't go out. I missed going for a walk with my boys its been nice that last few days getting out the house with them and getting some exercise (so instead I ate lots of cake because its pretty much the same thing....).

thimon Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 If you miss you can tap the ball to get it back Never got that to work, Internet trolls at work I was thinking I'm an early bird so go hunting at 7am, no crashing at all then. Level 16 at the moment, my current top Pokemon:
Joanne Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 Nice. I'm only level 10. Hatched me an electrobuzz last night. That was pretty awesome!
Tesla Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 My friend says he does it to retain pokeballs, maybe its to do with the lag? Going around the village last night was surreal, so many people were out playing it, got into conversations with at least 3 random people about it was we were going round (including a Dad going around with his ~4YO Son. He was just like.... "so everyone's doing this, right?" and showed us he was playing it. The son was loving it, managed to catch something when we were about, too. Unfortunately when i placed a lure the game started playing up, so didn't have a big descent of players like i was hoping.
ataylor Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 Sucks living rural for this app, terrible 3G/4G, low spawn rates, no local gyms or pokestops...

Tesla Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 dosent need to be rural im on a new estate about 5 miles from the centre of leeds and theres naff all Similar, live in a new part of the village. I get the odd pokemon appearing on a corner every few hours, other than that nothing unless i leave the house. There's 3 gyms in the village, one has a ~900 Vaporeon. Jealous.
