I'd certainly be up for these in the North West... And elsewhere depending on location etc...

The ANME luncheons at Chorley are brilliant. Maybe you need to set up a stall to sell beer?

I'd be up for this if it was within the North West of close to it. Although I wouldn't mind a national meet once every couple of years etc in a fairly centralised place to everybody

Thanks :-) (going to be planning the options for the meeting on the 30th next week!)

Could potentially do something in conjunction with the ANME meetings around the country - at a pub afterwards - about 75% of ANME members are on EduGeek, so would be something that may be easier for some to go to - do both events in one... perhaps...

Is there a members map on the forums? @elsiegee40

Not on the main forum. I really think it's a question of someone saying "I'm thinking of going to the King's Head in Anytown at 1pm on Saturday. Is anyone in the area interested?" To start things off.

From the conference info, I might be able to give a few a nudge if they're in that area.

An alternative, as pubs don't suit all members, might be a coffee shop meetup.

But, it worked for me all those years we met at the RM Seminars ;)

This is true, but I don't think I'd have been permitted to go to those just so I could have lunch with you and 100 other people. And even then, we had something significant in common, i.e. the RM system. Perhaps an EduGeek lunch would work if the attendees had similar, e.g. lunch for people with Meru wireless, or lunch for people doing BYOD.

@Joanne what about organising a meet at Sycamore Farm for the Lancashire Techies, well the East Lancashire ones?

Those cheesecakes are too big a temptation for me and I leave feeling awful!! Hahahah!

Really and truly, trying to do this formally is doomed to failure.

Self appointed town reps are far more likely to get the people in their area together just by naming a day, a time and a venue.

Don't try to get to get too many at the first attempt. Three or four like minded souls to start with can grow into a bigger gathering over time.

You need to establish a core first

@mikeprice just looking at getting one organised at a local pub near to the ANME meet on the 30th. It would be open to all Edugeek members not just ANME members. Edited by ticker

I think an 'EduGeek Social' forum/area may be in order! It may be best waiting on this in the new site though as we shall have a lot more toys to do it with but I'll have a word with @ZeroHour to see if we can't get something temporary setup in the meantime seeing as the summer break is fast approaching :)

I'd be up for it, although when I used to go to car meets we would be able to tell whos turning up by cars....

We may just be wandering around car parks and pubs by ourselves ;)

I was thinking about big edugeek banner :)
