Joanne Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 I was disappointed to see no snow. It was very miserable when I set off for work, then when I rounded the corner onto the road the school is on I saw the hills covered in white. Was beautiful. Will have to get the dashcam footage! 1

googlemad Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 I remember the year snow closed us on a Friday but the trains were still running fine so about 10 staff, annoyingly myself included, still made it in. (Obviously they didn't provide the 'closed' update until just after I had stepped on the train!) Just as I'm thinking 'oh well they'll send us back home' the exams manager appears to point out they had an exam that entire morning which wouldn't be cancelled and required IT support. Grr.....

So what happens this year? We get the snow at 1" to 2" increments at night for the last three days, so I can't use the blower lest I want to wake the kids and I have to shovel the giant driveway. Meh. I hate winter. 1

witch Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Bitterly cold and frosty here today - no snow though. Had to swap the cars today - until I realised that mrwITch's car has no heating and no blowers and was covered in frost. So I took my own car and told him to follow me to work when he was ready (I only work 5 mins up the road) and swap the cars over. Hopefully by the time I finish work the car will be clear of frost. Goodness I am a good parent - all this so the middle son can borrow his dad's car to go to London this weekend
mikeprice Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Car totally frozen this morning - couldn't even open the doors for a while Roads covered in ice on the way in - had fun getting the Vehicle Stability Assist light to come on Also saw the bus in front of me miss a traffic island by inches as it went round a corner with massive understeer Then got in to find everyone helping the Head de-ice the playground due to lack of caretaker fun fun fun
